The raffle at the chicken show sounds fun!!
If we bring things to donate...do we have to be there super early??
What time is everyone going anyway??
Last call for t-shirt orders for sizes S-M-L-&-XL
Sorry, XXL & XXXL shirts orders already went out.

I won't notice them -- except to admire -- but DH definitely WILL !!!!!

Hmmm...don't some of them have to go because you only need one roo? And if your chicks are straight run you'll have only maybe half of the desired number???
Definately room for at least 4 more fluffy Orps...cause half of those will be boys too.

welll -- they were SUPPOSED to be pullets only --- yeah yeah I know, 90% only is guaranteed --

no straight run "Americanas" were in that order-- and these are all getting their tailfeathers well growing, at just over a week of age; the only one I have question marks about, is the darkest, least chipmunk-marked of the bunch, whose wing feathers are not as long as the rest; and I think I see some blue coloration coming on that one .. at least a grayer brown than the rest

yeah, the only straight run bin in that store was the bantams ... and this chick was bigger than any of the bantams when I looked at them; the bantams actually appeared pretty forlorn (well picked over, the chicks had been in for a couple of days) -- also they had a store employee staying near the bins, to prevent people from putting chicks back in the wrong bin

but we will see

I would rather not have any roos at all, to begin with; if I need fertilized eggs, there's another family in town selling fertilized EE eggs ... their roo is a BR I think

looks like the crate deal may be going down the tubes --- the guy with the trailer who was set to deliver them, has mechanical problems and guests coming from out of town, so I have to wait a week, see if any are left then .... and DH is making unhappy noises about coop and run on the property "what will the neighbors say?" ... though two of them already have chickens

It is unreal how big of eggs my RIR are laying. The little girls only weigh 40oz and they eat WAY less than a LF. Someday you will all have a chance to see what nice big these little ladies produce. In fact maybe I will save a doz and send them to the show. But if anybody should have any ideas of hiesting said eggs to hatch would be
hit.gif
Cause they would hatch some real purebred MUTTS. Yup cause the RIR are currently with my OEGB roo !!

Anyone paying attention to the news? Tsunami warnings all up and down the west coast. I guess the biggest surge to hit here should be around 7' at the coast... 8.9 quake in Japan... I doubt much will happen but its always better the be aware than completely blind sided by what could happen around here.

hmmm -- CR -- sounds like those purebred MUTTS might wind up as great egg layers with a tendency to go broody

on the other hand, they might wind up as flighty ferocious wild chickens; gorgeous roos probably

eeek -- then it will probably hit Maui ... the last one was more of a non-event, but this sounds considerably worse ... I guess I will go check the online Maui News paper, and watch the webcams

okay, just checked, Maui got 6 foot high waves but little damage ... on Oahu they got 3 foot waves at Waikiki but it only covered the beach, didn't get all the way up to the hotels

No because they are mutts being with the OEGB roo. I doubt anybody would be interested.
BTW the news just said that the first surge has hit the US Oregon coast!!!
The most I saw was a predicted 3.6 for Moclips.

I've been doing web searches for your RIR Bantams ever since you posted about how much you like them. I've hardly found any,and the few I did find were outta my price range. I'm hoping to see a picture of their eggs next to a standard sized egg. I have one LF RIR, and she is a very nice hen (well, she became one after I carried her around for a few hours for being dumb enough to repeatedly challenge the New Hampshire for Queen of the Roost). She sat here on my desk one afternoon while I caught up on posts. Now she comes running to me like a dog, and follows me around everywhere. Maybe she's hoping to read more BYC posts, though she did ask me what "Freezer Camp" is. She did not think it would be very nice to go camping in Siberia, but told me to let you all know she will fit very nicely in a suitcase if any of you have plans to go somewhere warm and tropical.
