Hey I saw that Purely Poultry has RIW chicks. I think he (Tyler) outsources to other breeders who drop ship chicks and stuff...so you might want to check them out.

You should save the eggs and incubate them. They are fertilized by a pure Coro roo. You will get 50% pure and 50% split.

Oh wait, edited to add that roo isn't that fertile yet. Still you never know. He's getting the boot if he doesn't shape up in the next month.

How old is he? Have you trimmed their vents? I have to on all of my Sussex & cochins or there's very little fertility if any. It took my rooster about 10 months before he was doing the deed properly and I got him and the girls all trimmed up. I don't trim the younger birds that I show until after they've shown, though.

I think he's about 10 or 11 months. He was 4 months when I bought him and I think he got here in August. I will definately try the trimming before I give him the boot to see if it improves anything. The hens backs are always muddy so he's definately trying. Only thing, before I got him I was useing a split roo and all the eggs were fertile then but maybe now that the hens are more mature their butts are fluffier. Bummer if he's sterile Cost a bunch of money. Only consolation is I bought 2 Coro roos from the breeder and he sent me a pullet and a roo! Nice, an extra Coro hen is just what I needed. As soon as I got them out of the shipping box I knew she was a hen. Can't understand how he got that wrong but glad he did.

We use it in our water, drink it & bathe with it and yes, in the eyes.
Read the label, it is water and Sodium Hypochlorite, which is bleach.
Bleach in small amounts is what heals, and kills bacteria and fungus.
Bleach is necessary or we would all be very sick.
Bet Bleach prices go up, as Japan needs it to clean their drinking water.

I am aware of what bleach does. I just never thought to spray it in an eye before. figured it might burn a bit, so you learn something new every day. I will keep my suggestions to myself next time, I would feel bad if people got ripped off on my account. thanks for the info!

I never saw your post about the stuff...bleach is in our drinking water, and it does not hurt the eyes. Bleach is in public pools and spas in much much greater amounts, and it will give ya red eye then.
It all depends on the dosage, as with everything else.
But the fact remains, the active ingedient in that product is sodium hypochloride, which is common every day household bleach.
And at such an extravagant price !!!
So, that's all.

Oh GAWD!

Count me in on that! I will be eating that Friday night as well...funny, I've been craving STICKY rice the most! LOL

Yum! My first pregnancy, I craved Japanese food, especially Nebayaki Udon, sashimi and coffee jello! DS LOVES all those!

I'm hoping I can control my buying at the show ... I'm hoping to fix up part of the yard over the spring/summer (build it up, add drainage, and fence) so I can have another area for Banties. DD really wants some of CGG's Millifleur cochins and now that CR has posted a photo of the eggs, I'm thinking RIR Bantams. Don't want to buy 50 chickens and fill all my coops at once! What time will you be there Friday? I need to pick up my giant mutt from the groomers, but I may head over and peek around, maybe pick up the hen early.

Your BO is QUIET? Mine have the loudest egg song of any of my birds! My australorps is quiet, and if you hum to her when she is roosting,or relaxing in the sun they few times we have had any,she will sing softly to you.

What I am saying is the Vetericyn, is nothing but bleach, and water.
When you dilute the bleach to just a smidge, as WSU has approved & tested, you get this product.
Try it on yourself & see.
Then you will wonder why you have paid $34 for 8 oz of diluted bleach water.
yes it works!
But you can mix it up yourself for $1.89

Thanks RFF: but no more RIW chicks, I have tons of eggs, and I am going to go SQ White Rock (in the incubator)

Let me know about when the Orloff lay...
OK goodnight all!
