Not looking to pick an argument but ... IT would not have to be a vet (unless required by law etc). With the goat shows they just had members of the host club do the check. They were called "vet" check but were really more of a health check.

It's also a matter of volunteer labor! More people should get involved in the club- and by involved I don't mean just paying dues- the behind-the-scenes work is so important and nothing can happen without it. When I got there Fri evening, only Kristina Korfus, Terra, and Jean were there... and all had plenty to do and were going in several different directions.

edit to correct time.... phew.. days run together- I just got home and finished unpacking birds

I have been involved in enough volunteer things that I totally understand that part. Seems like there is always the same core doing all of the work and many others never step up.

Sometimes it is just a matter of asking...or letting it be known.
Most folks will help if they knew help was wanted.
(And that there was no chickens running around.

Out of their little controlled environment...)

Again, so nice to meet everyone! My birds did decently. I wish I could have brought more geese- but couldn't squeeze another bird in my car if I tried!

RFF- cute bantam orloffs!

WTHchristi- you do know you now have to show, right? Now that you will have a show worthy pullet then hen,... you can't stay away

Oh, and the ASBC is just a click away! Come.... it beckons you....

4321- great to meet you! I know I spoke with you a few times. I ran all morning without caffeine- and so much was going on- that some things are still fuzzy.

Breshcanda- entry fees are usually about $3 a bird and sometimes there is an exhibitor fee (about $4 or $5 and is regardless of the number of birds entered)

I know I met a bunch of you, and I appreciate the attendance. I encourage all of you to consider becoming members of WFF.

But this was the day before, not day of. I am sure they did ask club members. I'm sure they would love to have more people join and get actively involved!

Today I managed to make me a bell. RonB got the last one I had here over a year ago. But I decided to try something new. I cut my name in it and dang the bell still sounds great. I plan to try more of this and may be able to cut out shapes too.

Wow! That looks fantastic.
If you can paint the inside bright yellow & the outside orange lets say, will it be bright enough inside the bell to see the yellow contrast???
Just wondering.

Hi Everyone,

I’m just sitting down to relax a few minutes before I go fix something to eat. This is the first time I’ve been to the computer and have been able to check email all weekend so I’ve got a ton to go thru and will have to be somewhat brief.

I just saw a "Washingtonians" thread email in my Inbox and it was talking about the show. The show was great but I was sure beat. Still am. Seven hours of washing birds, then drove to the show Friday night to coop in, and then home to fix some supper. Then relaxed for a couple of hours before heading to bed. Back up in 5 hours to get back to the show and take the rest of my birds there. The day was over before I knew it. I never even got a chance to walk all the aisles and see all the birds.

I just wanted to quickly post here that I know there were a lot of folks there that I would’ve liked to have chatted with and met but time just got away from me. I honestly don't know where it went. I never even heard who took what honors and awards. It was all just a big blur. Guess I'll have to watch for the article in the Poultry Press. If someone would like to shoot me an email, that'd be great though.

Well, I've still got about 20 more emails to look at and ten fix some supper. Let me just say for those who were there that I've talked with in the past and never met, please come up and see me the next time. I'd hate having a chance to meet y'all and miss it. For those of you who I know and have met like Heather, Christie, and I'm sure others that I can't think of right now, I wish I'd have had more time to chat. Don't really know why things were so hectic this time but they were. I hope y'all enjoyed the show.

God Bless,
