Congrats!!!!!! I never had any kids and I think those who do (and do a good job raising them) are simply awesome. Toughest job in the world when done right.

Hey you guys, did you see the huge F-up Pasado's did this AM? (As usual! I have a long history with these idiots and believe me they are NO GOOD!)

Evidently someone (and animal expert, mind you) has never seen hunter dumps. So they see what is evidently three dead skinned coyotes on the side of the road (I DO HATE hunters that dump dead animals out in public like that). Anyway, I woke up to BREAKING NEWS on KOMO about "three hideously disfigured dogs DISPLAYED on the side of a road" by some "obvious sick individual". SO PAsado's goes off half cocked,as usual, and grabs this "evidence of a crime" while bleating they will pay $5000 to anyone who can help them solve "the crime" that they, by the way, just ruined the site of for investigation by REAL officers. Get all the little old ladies hysterial and reaching for their check books to make a donation....

Then the sheriff comes on the radio and says "these are more likely than not coyotes which have been skinned, as hunters do cut the head and feet off them to skin them". Last I heard Pasado would not return phone calls and wouldn't hand over the "evidence" to the sheriffs....

This is what is so sad: the so called "experts" these days are young kids, clueless, and running off at the mouth about these sick things they imagine, and I think we will be darn LUCKY to get off without some teenage kid seeing HOW MUCH ATTENTION THIS GOT and doing a "copycat" thing with REAL domestic animals.... So much of the crap humane societies say become self fulfilling prophecies when dumb kids read their stuff.

How do I know? Over 20 years as a professional animal control officer, also consultant to animal control in five countries. As well, myself and two others worked very hard to save 50 dogs that Pasado dumped on a hoarder (who was promptly busted for animal abuse and shut down when we got authorities there) in Arkansas during the "Katrina" debacle, because they wanted to get their pictures in the papers with their PASADA t-shirts on, but h um, didn't want to have to deal with the not-so-cute and adoptable dogs they "saved". They left 50 dgos sitting in the rain in wire cages at this gross facility with over 300 dogs on it (no running water) and 2 people....

Anyway, I'm sorry to rant, but NOTHING T's me off like "animal lovers" who aren't.

OMG BOLDOG!! that was one of my many hates about pasado's!!!! the pictures of those dogs left in a darn field in wire crates with no water in the rain and then hot sun!! they were mostly pits! and yet they still tout how they saved the katrina dogs!!!!

Their "haven" is around the corner from me and the fraud that has been going on over there is assinine. the Everett Herald ran some really good stories about why the founders divorced etc. She was using the funds to build herself a big mansion and live the high life and he was tired of it. they recently got new directors and I think the property is no longer in her name and she is gone. The vets have been fighting with them to start euth'n animals as they are suffering far beyond what is reasonable. sad sad sad

I have a pit mix that gets along with 5 yorkies (some of which are dominant females) and a bulldog/JR mix, but does not get along with one female dog.. We found her dumped at a public park after the big boat races here 1 year ago. We've been trying to find her a home ever since. She's a very nice girl but high energy, loves to fetch and play ball, adores her playmates (especially Panzer, a male bulldog mix) but due to breed bans in our area and ignorant people, we've been unable to find her a good match.

If any of you know of someone looking for a high energy young dog (the vet thinks she is great dane/pit mix) let me know. I love this girl and she is very pretty/muscular, but she doesn't get along with Panzer's sister and we've been acting as a 'foster' for about 10 months without any good homes. She wouldn't be ideal around small kids due to her high energy and exuberance, and needs more work around poultry (although she listens when you say 'leave it')... but she is very sweet and loves her people. She adores soccer balls, tennis balls, and cuddling while watching a flick, she loves walks in the park and hiking,... she dislikes rolled up newpapers and yelling. We actually had her come up to us around midnight when we were leaving a sportsbar late last summer. We were told she had been coming to get water for about a week, but would never eat. S he's up on shots and worming.

Her name is Jackson (after the sports bar she was found outside of) and she no longer looks like the walking skeleton she was when we found her. She's a doll and I wish, so badly, that we could keep her.

Re: Washingtoniansalso thought i would post this.... its probably already too late but is still worth being informed of. no matter what your political opinion is this interference into the chicken world (and quickly other aspects of agriculture... because of how it is worded) can be greatly impacted.... do YOU want to have to have a sales tax on every chick you sell?

"Representative Christine Rolfes (D- Bainbridge Island) has filed an amendment to SSB 5487, hen care standards, that would threaten the current sales/use tax exemption on agricultural inputs, by imposing the sales tax on baby chicks and pullets used in egg production, if certain care standards were not met.

This amendment invites an unraveling of Washington's tax code. Not only are ag inputs, like feed, seed, fertilizer and spray material at risk, but also, all manufacturing would be put at risk under this policy direction.

Currently, inputs used in virtually all manufacturing processes are sales tax exempt. Examples include aluminum to build Boeing airplanes, logs to produce lumber, and virtually every other product manufactured in the state. If applied to all inputs, Rolfes' tax policy would further cripple already struggling agriculture and manufacturing industries in the state.

The bill could be heard this afternoon, so contact your Representatives NOW and tell them to say NO TO THE ROLFES AMENDMENT to SB 5487, and NO TO RAISING TAXES ON AGRICULTURE!

TOLL-FREE HOTLINE: 1-800-562-6000"

i have also gotten other emails about egg dealer and just general chicken keeping rules that are on either this bill or other bills.....

Currently organization is trying to get a law passed that bans caged chickens. From what I saw of it there was nothing other than having the ability to go outside for cage definitions/ This passed in Califronia, and when the egg cost went up it was passed on to the consumer. organization sued the egg lobby for price fixing then, because all the eggs went up because of higher costs to produce fewer eggs. Im not saying more space is bad, im just saying that it aint always w2hat it appears. Egg prices went up higher because of both things.

I will definitely keep my ears open for someone looking for a pet like her. I also have a couple that need homes too. I have a boxer and a high energy black dog that I would like to place...and funny...today sheba came back. sheba is a 12 year old husky mix that wandered into my house last month. I found the owner and when she came to pick her up she was a bit rude but whatever. sheba is old and arthritic and apparently lives on the porch...she stinks and is matted and is very overweight. I tried to call her owner but the phone is off...I seriously wish she would get a fenced yard or at least a garage for her to stay in when she is not home. *sigh*

It annoyed me when they kept calling me an "elderly primapara" when I wasn't quite thirty yet.

29 and they said that? I think I would have slugged anytone who said that to me! I was 34, and they wrote it in prominant lettering across the top of my chart! I bled throughout most of the first trimester and was simply told "well, you are at that age when most women will experience a miscarriage." I lied to get in to maternal fetal medicine for a better ultrasound and that is when all the problems were discovered. (Placenta previa was causing the bleeding, not my age!) My grandmother was 45 when my dad was born. I was just a spring chicken comparatively!

Back then, 29 was considered old for a first time mother.

Last month, I got one chick out of 32 eggs; Brabanters and Appenzeller Spitzhaubens. I was very disppointed, especially over those that died at hatch or a few hours after hatch.

congrats on the plans...hope it will go smoothly now for you.

BTW: There are lots of kids with boxes - outside Safeways and Wal*Marts- here in the Okanogan County. Largest County in the state and there is not one Government funded animal rescue or shelter. It is all done my volunteers and donations - 100%. It is awful some of the things I have seen. They rescued 22 cats from a woman who was living in her car - WITH THE CATS IN THE CAR. That was a mess.

And I thought I was the cat lady. I can claim 5 kitties, but they all live outside. The nasty little dogs love to chase them.

That makes the mom mom cranky for sure.

Most medicated chick/chicken feeds are actually safe for waterfowl now. It used to be that sulfa drugs were used in medicated feeds, and birds are very sensitive to OD's of sulfas (causes organ failure). Nor, most medicated feeds contain Amprol/corid/amproloprium which is very safe even at 3-4x the normal dosage for even the most delicate of birds (Mr. Peter Brown, the chicken doctor, had me using 3x the dosage on chicks last year for resistant coccidia, you can come see some results of the treatment at the Stevenson show).

So,.. check the label. Sulfa drugs= not ok for waterfowl due to OD, amprol based drugs are ok for waterfowl feed.

Thanks for the info
