Wow, that is awful! My chart already read "advanced maternal age" even before we discovered all the problems, and they pretty much assume you will have amnio then. I'd ask for a second opinion, or maybe just even go on your own... That is ridiculous!

I know it sure helped me. My doc was out of town when Olivia pushed her foot out. I saw a diffferent doc then who thought it best to terminate as my amniotic fluid was really low and she assumed it must have leaked and become contaminated with bacteria. That amnio saved the pregnancy and my sanity.

So what are the size difference in the two age's? How many month olds to 2 month olds?

Ive heard of people hatching egg they keep in the fridge you can try it. Not sure how many would hatch.

I've got 3 that are 1 month old (OE), and 14 that range from 2 - 2.5 months, the 4 orpingtons being the oldest, largest and last to feather. These orps are about the most mellow chickens I've seen, they let the smallest 2 barnevelders, which are the same size as the 3 OE, push them around! The OE's seem to be growing faster than the older batch of chicks. Of my 9 hens in another coop, the EE's grew the fastest and the Wyandottes the slowest.

I don't understand doctors who refuse tests and treatment just to cover their asses. If the patient has all of the risks and benefits info they should be able to have a say in their own course of treatment. Moms-to-be are not going to jepordize their pregnancy and baby on a whim! Man! It really irritates me!

Oh, anyone else getting snow? WTH!? It's suppose to be spring! Sending thoughts and prayers to all of you going through tough times right now.

My friend with Rainwolf's BLRW is in love with her chickens and would like more. She'd like more BLRWs, or GLW, Blue Autralorps, or Andalusians. Anyone have any of those?

It annoyed me when they kept calling me an "elderly primapara" when I wasn't quite thirty yet.

Gorgeous Roo! I wonder if that is what mine will look like when he grows up? How noisy is he and does he crow often? Neighbor with 4 dogs that run loose keeps reminding me that she does not want to hear any roosters. I told her if her dogs weren't loose, I'd have no need for roosters to protect my flock (of course I'd still need them for more chicks, but she doesn't need to know that part.)

29 and they said that? I think I would have slugged anytone who said that to me! I was 34, and they wrote it in prominant lettering across the top of my chart! I bled throughout most of the first trimester and was simply told "well, you are at that age when most women will experience a miscarriage." I lied to get in to maternal fetal medicine for a better ultrasound and that is when all the problems were discovered. (Placenta previa was causing the bleeding, not my age!) My grandmother was 45 when my dad was born. I was just a spring chicken comparatively!

I am SO NOT a pro....but, my Hannah, just hatched 2 BR eggs (she is a bantam cochin)...24 hours later I had bought 3 feed store chicks and I put them under her in the middle of the night. Now, mind you...the babies she hatched are black....the 3 I put under her - yellow. If you were to ask her....they are all her babies and she fluffs up about twice her size whenever I am out there cleaning/feeding/watering. Those are HER babies....no questions asked. Mine did not notice that not only did she gain 3 babies 24 hours later (and I had moved her from where she had been to a more secure location - away from everyone else) but that NONE of the eggs were bantam cochin size. My personal opinion...once they are broody - they kind of go brain-dead. I bet she won't notice....but will eagerly await the opinions of pros.

The broody BO is currently sitting on 5 mini plastic brightly colored easter eggs - Bantam sized and heavy because there is an ink pad in half of each egg and a rubber stamp on the other! She did push a few of them out of the nest ... ones where I had mixed up the top and bottoms so each egg had 2 colors. They split open when they hit the ground, and no one seemed curious as to the odd insides.

I'm back and NOT in a better mood!

Well, as luck would have it, Robin needs to tear her incubator down and find out why it is making a strange noise so I sent 4 dozen eggs off to the local feed store which several people assured me she could hatch them in her incubator. Well....

Of course I sent the REALLY expensive ones to her and when she didn't return any of my calls I got a bit suspicious, but tracked her down today and she said that something went wrong with her incubator and all died. All 4 dozen. All the EXPENSIVE ones I was dying to see!!!!

Well, at least here I'm sure there is someone who has suffered this misfortune as well... I guess I'll just save up and get some more now that my hens (all 2 of them) are setting... But poop!
