OK here is my hot frame, next to my old cold frame.

and here is a shot of a chunk of the styrofoam board...it is from Home depot, super fast & easy to insilate anything!
You have to line it when used in the coop..except on the ceiling, I just cut the 4 X 8 panel to fit the coop ceiling, goop with liquid nails, and hold it up..it sticks after a minute or two, or hold in place with large headed screws.

This is a chunk from a full panel...laying on the top of the hot frame seen from the back to show hinges.
It was 78 degrees in there this morning, I have a remote therm in it.
There was a thick layer of frozen hail & ice on the top of the window.

I am going next time for sure, but with the unexpected death in the family & then dad drove up here (he did not like being alone in the house) it has been very hecktic & distracting to say the least...

i was surprised there were like on only 4 call ducks...

They OBVIOUSLY needed my crew of butterscotches to liven up Call Duck Alley.. aw well, they will be there in October.. loud and in charge. heehee!

About the coconut. I got something that I am pretty sure is coconut mat. It was under the cushions of VW bug seats. Our girls like it and it seems to be working well. The foam insulation is very good. I have A LOT of it from the last RV I scrapped. It all still has wood paneling on one side so I will be able to just cut and install it no need for covering.

I get my feed in Hermiston. It's a great excuse to pick up some melon. Mm mmm good.

I have a 2 foot by 6 foot section of wall in my old coop that is uninsulated, and it gets so wet & moldy mildewy from condensation...have too many honey dos and that one has not been fixed yet.

I DO NOT WANT DUCKS I DO NOT WANT DUCKS I DO NOT WANT DUCKS !!! What kind of special care do those cute little call duckies need??? Will I need to dig them a pond??? How much space do they need. It's not too late to convert this new little coop for duckies rather than RIR B.

Last time I had one of those, the group of chickens stand on it, it opens, and they proceed to "beak" out all the feed all around on the ground anyways.
The lid is open when they are eating, and so it was as if I had a shoe box of feed on the ground for them, and they kicked it out all over with their beaks.
Back to square one.

I don't have that problem, it has the lip all around it, and so they eat and move the food around but I don't lose any...maybe you had a different design then I do. I know mine is much different then if they were standing and eating out of a shoe box...
