Hi Peppermint, where ya been ?

I cannot recall who has those birds right now, someone raises them tho-

This thread is sooooo dead today, and yes the weather is nasty, so far no wind here yet on the South Coast, I am waiting...probably a good day to watch old movies.
I have ground beef, pork sausage, red & orange bell peppers, green onions & mushrooms, and plan a whopper meatloaf for din din.
Also having smashed potatoes, corn & fresh mesclun greens, cherry toms & hot cuc for salad, blue chees & raspberry walnut dressings...then left over fruit salad, coleslaw &
half a NY cheese cake for D-zert.
A person could get mighty fat what with the dang weather.............
Even the chickens are all in, doing nothing but eating & dust bathing and probably making a mess in every coop.
I got my compost to start sweet meats squash & melons...but do not even want to go out in this rain.
Every sweat shirt I have is soaked................so sick of it...and the weather channel says it will be raining ALL WEEK LONG!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to get in just 1 more nice day to go fishing before turning in our licenses...but a day in the boat in the wind & rain does not sound good at all.
APPLESAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The blood spots are called "egg meat" and are caused by tiny ruptured blood vessels in the ovary when the bird's ovary releases an egg.
It is harmless, and does not mean the bird is necessarily ill.
In the big egg farms, they high power candle all eggs before they sell them to toss out any eggs with "egg meats'...to pet food factories.
It can be something that just happens as the bird grows, or maybe she was frightened when laying ?
In any event, it is fine to eat.

Unfortunately, all but one egg from her has been bloody, and not just one small spot. I can't imagine that she is frightened every day, she seems to be a pretty calm bird, and unlike Luna, was never picked on by the rest of the flock when she moved here last month. She is top of the pecking order while Luna is at the bottom. Luckily Alex does not mind eating them. I can deal with 1 or 2 small spots, but these spots are very dark and cover 1/4 or more of the yolk. You have to mix sausage in with the egg to hide it

I never had that here with the eggs, wonder if it was becasue she was the one who got out there and we ran all over to get her. But I would think it would be better now.

Oh, maybe she has some other issues !
How long has this been going on ?
Post an egg pic ?

She never did it here so Im not sure whats going on. I do know if the dog got one of her other birds it could have stressed her. But yes post a picture so we can see..

All these things I need for free on cl and so few times I can ask my son to drive for hours on his limited time off.

Was I the only one who couldn't get on to BYC for a while this morning? Probably not, just the only one to mention something so trivial.

The DH has finally left for work: it's hard to get moving on a rainy Monday, but harder when a drop in temperature is transferred to a couple pounds of ironmongery screwed into one's spine. I need to make phone calls (my least favorite activity, BTW. I do not do the phone for fun, whatsoever) about bull stuff and then go grocery shopping, all the while praying that it stops raining long enough that I can get help on some chicken coop stuff I can't do by myself, whih is, additionally, keeping me from doing anything else.
