I've been "stalking" BYC for almost a year and have just decided to finally sign up for the forum. I'm planning on posting pics of our 3 babies that I'm thinking are all roo's. I really love being able to read about other people's experiences with their flocks and have found useful info with medical care, etc. Now, I'm excited I found a Washington thread! I know cheesy, or maybe just that I'm easily excited

Welcome, this thread can move very fast at times, but jumping in anywhere is a common practice! Good to have you!

Welcome!!!

We almost moved to Friday Harbor - bought land there and everything, and then we looked at reality and decided that it would be nearly impossible for us to be employed there

I should have checked the thread more often, but now I'm off to bed.

I dig the radio! What do your birds prefer to listen to? I usually have the Mariners on when I'm out by my coops. I drag a big shop radio out there. Last week when we were planting the tree, I had the radio close so the boys could hear the game. I walked out to the coop and carried back my best bird to show the ladies. On our way back to the coop, the bird refused to walk away from the radio until I turned it off. Then she promptly followed me the rest of the way 'home'.

If the M's or any other sports are on the radio goes off!!!! I like Classic rock. Like 60's -70's and some 80's but I will listen to a wide variety if need be.

I agree with you about the sports but what is the M's?

My BIL just keeps mowing hay and puts up what the weather allows: sileage bales are a bother to handle (heavy, and prone to explode until fully cured) but the best nutritionally, square bales are the most salable but also take the most fuel and labor and the best weather, regular round bales are a challenge on some fields: last year one of them started rolling and then bouncing when it left the gate and ended up twenty feet up in a maple tree at the bottom of the hill fifty feet onto the neighbor's property.

I've heard that quite a few farmers refuse to feed their livestock those round bails. The farmers are concerned that their animals wont be getting a square meal.
