Oh Dave did you lose a child? So recently? I am so very sorry....

It was the first post I remember seeing from him and it was so very touching as he shared the story of his loss with us. Sorry I don't remember what post #. And he has been on here with us since.

Oh and they are ok to raise alone if you cuddle a lot but better with others. I know 1 that was hand raised solo and it would follow the person all around the yard and never fly away but it is rare.

I may not be on much for a few days since it is now crunch time for me. I will be spending today finishing up a couple pieces and then loading the truck and trailer. I will finish any last minute stuff in the morning and we will be on the road just after lunch Friday. As of last count I have just over 100 items and only 2 or 3 that are duplicates. I am also taking 6 bells.
I am not expecting to have internet where we will be. So if anybody needs to contact me you can ask CL, Broody, Ogress, jbear or anybody else that has it to PM you my cell #.
I will take the camera and try to get pics but of course probably won't be able to post until we get back.

Well this morning the little one was laying on its side gasping for air. So i moved it closer to the light, on top of some paper towels. Went out to feed my flock and horses, came bac in and little ones eyes were open, breathing has steadied, it was still shivering. So I too a ziplock sandwich baggie filled it with hot water, and stuffed it into two more baggies, "just in case." Little one sat on the baggie for a few minutes, then Popped up lie he just got out of a daize, and is now roaming around. I dipped my finger into its water and placed a drop on its beak, I cant tell if it has eaten anything yet, but there is the tiniest little quail poo's scattered around on the news paper. I must be doing something right, as little one is alert, and moving around, no longer laying on its side gasping. Poor thing must have been freezing. But is nice and warm now.

Ooops, missed that! I have an EE that looks just like your almost white one (pale butter-colored). SHe is the one who went broody and I couldn't break her. She sat on easter eggs and infertile eggs for a couple of months, then 20 days on 4 fertile Black Copper Marans eggs. Her 4 chicks are a month old now, and she is the best mamma! She lets people pick up her chicks, but all chickens must keep their distance or endure her wrath! They all live in the juvenile pen, but some of my juveniles are close to egg-laying age. The chicks get run of the coop and run, unafraid because they know mamma will flog any chicken that gets to close, even if it is the baby that gets too near an unaware chicken!
