Okay, I chopped up apples and threw them in the coop and run. I think the babies may all be boys - they stand there and stare at each other and then charge, even the two blue-heads! They grab each other's heads and combs. Are BCM's more aggressive than other chicks? My OE boys fought, but not the grabbing heads bit. I'm looking for a way to separate, but not sure if I can as all my coops and cages are full. The two injured boys (missing feathers/down on their heads and some small scratches) separate themselves from the other two chicks when they have had enough. One flies up to the high roost and hangs out with a Cuckoo Marans pullet who pays him no attention, the other runs under moms tail feathers and hides. Mom laid her first egg since February this morning! She still clucks to her chicks and rounds them all up with her to make a trip into the coop or run when she sees me - She always greets me with all her chicks which is nice because I can just reach down and pick any of them up. She is letting them run free a lot more, but she does want to go out and free-range with her chicks! I won't let them out as I am afraid of predators. They are still too small. They all gather under her at night still as well.
