oh my gosh...Buenos Aires....oh, I am so jealous. How is the weather? I bet it is wonderful.

It's winter there

As opposed to here where it feels like winter even though it is supposed to be summer

ever hunted Morells? (sp)....went with some friends a few years ago....OMGosh....yum. Places where there have been forest fires is the best.

We don't have the forests for them. (wrong type of trees I mean) - We'd have to travel far to get some, and I prefer going within either a walking or short drive's distance. We have a LOT of wilderness out here, so finding something isn't too far, but sadly, no Morels.

This side of the mountain morels grow best a year or two after a fire in alder or cottonwood.

Something tells me that they do not get 4' of snow and the temp is probably not -32 F degrees. It has got to be better than what I have every year.

OMG! Already??? Congrats! We'll have to go take a look in our favorite spot, thanks for the heads up.
And should NEVER be eaten raw! The level toxins that are in all wild mushrooms are unpredictable one to mushroom to another. It's very risky especially if you eat more than one.

Last year we found the Mother Load of morels... then found out DH can't tolerate them!!! And they're my FAVORITES! With the fires in your area you should have great picking, but all the charcoal makes them harder to clean. Hope you enjoyed them, yummy.

Does anyone here in WA know of someone who has giant cochins? I'm looking for hatching eggs some time later this year. Any color other than white, with preference of blue/black/colorful mutts.

Also....fair warning....be ware of anyone wearing a mask...and asking just how your chickens are housed. They may come across as nice asking to just to catalog the various ladies in your yard....but remember.....one is wearing a mask for a reason....hmmmm, wonder why? btw...I have not divulged my exact location for security reasons.

You didn't need. See each bell is implanted with a tracking device. Only for the purpose of tracking and recovery in-case they are ever stolen of course.

And you hauled 2 of em home silly you.

Just wanted to share (and a photo will come soon as I figure out how!) that I went to my first chicken "show"! It was just the Thurston County Fair Open Class but I'm still pretty proud of my ladies and how they did

Paulette my Delaware Pullet won BEST IN SHOW! her sister fiona was 2nd to her, my Wheaten Americana Nanners took 1st place and my Buff Orpington took 1st place

I'm pretty excited, considering my ladies weren't the only ones in their class! Seeing as how none of them got disqualified I'm thinking I might need to venture to the next for real chicken show haha
