Maybe the odd tomatillo is part of the hybrid parent stock and is missing something? (pollinatoror, correct temp.) in your area, maybe the parent stock can only give size or vigor.
Just a guess

Got vegetables at the Farmer's Market, also a Blue Heron Cinnamon Roll for my DH and a small chicken cabbage salad and egg roll from Yakisoba for me. Came home to eat, sorted laundry, and removed an inch of driveway dust from the official transportation unit so one can walk past it without getting filthy.

I'm trying to make it rain. Not a lot, just a little, sufficient to settle the dust on the driveway. We hope. Maybe keep the pasture from going 100% dormant.

I was thinking while doing the fourth scrubbing of the car about Cheryl's hay dimemna. She may hear back from the guy-if she's done business with him before she probably will. Haying is not something that's conducive to prompt return of phone calls. But if he doesn't call back, and especially if he knew she was buying this hay for horses, then she can take the only effective measure against this kind of BS, and every time she hears his name say "he sold me a load of mouldy hay and wouldn't take it back or even answer my phone calls."

This is not a good year for hay, but even so- given the last couple of weeks weather, especially- there's no excuse for selling mouldy hay. We end up feeding a certain amount of it to our herd because we don't sell it to others (and round bales are weird about mold, they usually don't get it unless they're damaged, anyway) but we don't feed it inside, or to anything in buildings.

Sorry I disappeared for a bit! I had Aunties preschool going on with my 4 year old nephew, and then, I got to babaysit my 10 month old neice lastnight!!

Don't think the kid understood what he was getting into!! Luckly for him they have a riding mower! So when he gets it down to size then he can just ride over it!

The girls got spoiled by their babysitter, who gave them ALL the treats that we set out lol They are very fat sassy birds atm and are a bit miffed I think that we had the nerve to come home, and not have the nice babysitter come back.

Kitties are not thrilled to have us home...I think we will be getting the cold shoulder for a few days at least

But anyway, was a gorgeous drive from 405 to I-90, to whatever highway it was <I think 26 and 12>. I recognized a lot of the town names we passed thru from places mentioned here. It sure was pretty!!! We ended up in Pullman <after spending the night in Clarkston> to see my brother and his fiancee who just moved there. Poor guy...its quite a culture shock to go from So Cal to Pullman

. It's quite a bit smaller...and it wil be quite an adjustment!!!

Funny story...we brought a whole load of eggs for them since this was a "big sister mission of mercy lets go to Walmart and stock your shelves cos there is nothing to eat in the house but a few ramens and a gallon of milk" visit. His fiancee shows us another few cartons of eggs that her brother gave them.

Apparently he has started raising chickens and sent them off with a whole mess of eggs as well lol So, between us and her brother... they had 6 dozen eggs in the fridge

Now they are talking about possible getting a few birds once they move in a year or so and get back on their feet. I have done it!! I am in the process of converting my baby brother to be a chicken person !!

Well, we are back anyway, and I am off to bed soon...that's a long drive from Clarkston back to Silverlake...about 6 hours or so. I do envy all you people out there tho. Pretty pretty areas! And so much room for birdies!!
