I love those plates! Great find!

.... I'm off to a tent in the backyard with DD - I told her I'd sleep there till it starts to rain ... I hope the rain starts NOW!

I should not have waited until I was "advanced maternal age" to have kids; I'm too old for this sleeping on the ground bit.

No, I was busy freaking out because the dogs were barking at something. I hope it was a coyote: I'm pretty sure that coyotes aren't coming through the fence. Raccoons, not so much, and I'm stalled out on improvements.

Also when I was trying to figure out what was going on, I stepped barefoot on a slug.

Of course it could be rats in the blackerries- they're ripening fast, last summer it rained so much they never ripened. Or the cattle, which hang out in the orchard this time of year and have a round bale the other side of the blackberries. Or nothing. They're old dogs, sometimes it's nothing.

I suspect I'm not going to sleep much tonight.

OK so update on the 2 BO and 1 BR hens I got from brennant. Well when I had them in the grow pen in the barn they didn't seem too happy eventhough I had a light on timmer for em. But since T HI had them eat eggs at her house. What ya spect when all ya can hear is QUACK QUACK all the time. I was not gonna chance putting them in with the LF so I put them with the RIRB's. What a mix 3 RIRB's, 3 pollo loco (cookoo moran), 2 BO, 1 BR and 1 white silkie who is the boss of all. The 3 new girls have given a couple eggs (BO) and hardly make a sound.

Yup, although they're not easy to get established- the blue ones especially. There's also a native Red that is a deep-shade plant, and the black ones, although those are unusual.

The Elderberries here are a dark purple.
