now that I can finally figure out which pullet is laying which egg ....
Ginger is getting her name changed to Hailey
I promised granddaughter Hailey that I would name the chicken after her, as soon as I figured out who was laying that pink egg
DGD Hailey has been a pink fanatic since she was born; and that very first pink egg arrived THE DAY that Hailey came to visit
(yes yes I know, it's a white egg with a faint brown overlay, but it LOOKS pink)
so that means
... Becky is the more-or-less olive egger (odd color for an egg, really it's greige --- almost floor-sweepings dirt color -- gray/green/beige)
next time I cook one of her eggs, I'll ScotchBrite it to see if the underlying color is blue, as I suspect it is
with a yellow-brown shellac sort of coating
we knew that Phoebe was laying the robins-egg blue one;
Deirdre a green that varies between mint and pale moss;
Christina a jumbo size one colored in between those, more blue than green, really turquoisey;
Anitra a smaller egg slightly more green than blue, which I'd call aquamarine
neat that each egg is a different color, though; and a slightly different size
now I'm eager to see what hatches out of my eggs that Dana's broody is sitting on, because we included at least one of each color; will depend on which two got broken so far; about half of them were the bluest ones (Phoebe's)
also will see what genetic material that Roopert the roo is contributing .... we may have the answer for Illia, as to whether he's Columbian or Dominant White heterozygous .... or we may not ! may have to back-cross offspring to him to double check
that is, IFFFF he survives that long !
