I should have given you more eggs !

crossing fingers for those five, though --- the hen may have listened to the eggs and detected that those 5 chicks didn't survive her temporary abandonment/confusion -- or she MIGHT be wrong -- be sure you sing and cluck to those eggs as you incubate them .. LOL

on the other hand, check with Dawn -- since neither of us (as far as I know) has plans for the chicks HER broody is sitting on -- so those may also wind up going to your friends in Renton ...

in any case, chances are, there will be more cockerels than pullets when they all hatch ... which is why I originally wound up getting seven little chicks from Del's -- when I planned on having only three or four hens ....

supposedly there is about a 10% chance of mis-sexing when the hatcheries ship "pullets only" -- I was likewise hedging my bets after hearing about all the mortality of hatchery-bred chickens who have to endure shipping (I also waited two days after they arrived to get to the store to pick them out)

I am surprised and pleased that they all grew and thrived

On a good note.... My Doctor faxed in my medical release to my boss today!

So I will be starting back to work on Sept 1st! So, my medical coverage will be active again starting either October 15 or November 1st!! (depends on our benefits department and how much they feel like doing their job)

I know nappa carries a product that is for taking bolts out... Its some kind of chemical compound that eats away the gunk, and it lubes the bolt/screw/whatever is holding said part in... I had that same issue on my truck, and one squirt of that stuff, and about 5 minutes time and the bolt twisted right out! I can not for the life of me remember what it is called though. Maby IF your lucky, if you were to call and ask an auto parts store, you might get ahold of someone knowledgable enough to tell you what it was, or at least recomend a product. I believe it cost under $10...

In the case of my car... I have some MAJOR carbon build up in the fuel injectors... I had a diagnostic test run on it a few weeks ago, and well one of the injectors is clogged... Ran some heavy dute comercial injector cleaner through it, and it helped for a couple weeks. Now its acting up again, so Im wondering if the injectors need to be torn apart, cleaned, and put back together...

So I finally went to bed at 4:45am this morning.

Slight problem with this sleep schedule......... I have to be waking up at 4:45am starting on Thursday!!
