I PM'd her (RainWolf) & so maybe she can help.
She also is very good at constructing things, and finding things to make coops out of...and I miss her here on the forum.
OK, I gotta go do something outside, DH needs a hand..or something~~

Nab that one! with paint and TLC you could make something your landlord won't object to.

For that price, it seems budget should allow to hire someone to pick it up and haul it for you. Then you could paint it, put hardware cloth over the windows and you'd be almost there...

ETA: I should know better than to post an obvious suggestion before I get to the end of the thread. This has already been discussed. Lots of great positive ideas from our WA BYC'ers.
So I'll just say Good LUCK - hope you find a way to house those growing chicks soon!

Yes, thank you. It looks like it would cost roughly $100 to rent a Sawzall and a truck for the day. I've never used a Sawzall. I wouldn't have the faintest idea where to cut the shed apart. Our one little power drill is about worthless (for re-assembly). I'd be doing most of the labor myself, and I don't have the energy or strength to do much, thanks to fibromyalgia. I hate to sound like a pathetic wuss, but that's just how it is. The most construction I've done was making a sandbox for my kids, and in that case, everything was cut for me, and I just nailed it together (and moved a dozen bags of sand in a wheelbarrow, which was some work).

Fibromyalgia is a whole nother ball game. You have to be careful not to over tax yourself.

Hey there AriLovesChickens:
Not sure if you got my PM yesterday or not.
I am home today and so is PromisedLand.
I also called dawng and she is home until later this afternoon.
Both dawng and PromisedLand have offered to help you.
PromisedLand has tools and know-how and offered to help you build.
dawng has a truck you can use. (So does PromisedLand.)
Me, I'm more like you - no tools, no strength, no know-how.
But, you are still welcome to come over today and see my coop, Jean's and Dawn's.
We all live pretty close to you.
If today doesn't work, we'll try again for another day.
I agree with CL - Rainwolf would also be a great contact for you to make.
I'm heading off for a short (30 minute) errand and then I'll be back.
I PM'd you my phone and address yesterday.
Let me know if we can help.
Take care,
Ruth

You'll need to get a pet electric fence. A horse electric fence is more powerful & could hurt a dog. We ran hotwire around our coop. Now our chickens run around the yard with the dogs, no problems. My dogs do love scraps even if they have already had their dinner, they are never full. I haven't had to have my hotwire on for a long time. Did have to turn it on when my mom's Aussie was over & broke out of the front yard to the back yard. Had a baby chick down playing with it like a squeak toy. Got him in the house while I rounded up my chickens & locked them in the coop. I turned on the hotwire...he has huge respect of hotwire when he got zapped by a lhama fence. So our wire was set at a level for our small dogs, Jack Russell & 14 inch sheltie. So the Aussie was still dancing around the coop, I had to be mean & push his nose down to it. Wow did he scream, jump high in the air & raced to the glass door trying to climb through the door. I think he got the hint not to hurt or play with my chickens lol.

Shannon

He's gotten zapped a few times with the horse fence...he's over 100lbs and has extremely thick fur. I've seen him standing & touching the fence with his fur and not even reacting. We have a solar charger (horse) around the dog kennel because the Borzoi I used to have would climb out. The horse zapper was the only thing that kept him in. LOL

RFF We put stock panel on the bottom half of our runs the 6X6 " or 8X8", on the outside of the wire would this work on him?

Thanks SO much for posting the pics of these tarps! I was just looking at them on the internet yesterday. I think they would be the perfect solution for my Run. The heavy rain we had last week really convinced me the girls need more rain protection. Their run is long and narrow. To keep out the rain I'd need a HUGE overhang or walls. Walls of any kind make it way too dark, I don't want them in the dark all winter. But CLEAR tarps would work really well! I wonder if they might be available locally anywhere? Has anyone seen any? Shipping for one tarp nearly doubles the price.

I checked the website for Tarpworld in Algona (or Pacific? On 167 at the King/Pierce county line, anyway) and they either didn't have it or only had made-up tarps bigger than I needed for more than I wanted to pay. The uncut stuff I bought was the best price, even considering shipping, especially since anything I get that's bigger than what I can carry in the Camry has a whopping 6mpg charge to get it in the truck.

Stock panel/livestock panel is one of the wonders of the modern age.

Not cheap but also not needing replacement very often, if ever.
