I post on the Portland Oregon CL site and have had people come from as far as Bellingham. I've had lots of folks come from the Seattle area and out lying areas. I've also had people from Spokane drive here to pick up birds. Crazy huh? I've never tried posting on the Seattle site, wonder if I should.

Are you within the city limits? We're outside the city in unincorporated Snohomish county so those are the rules that apply to us. If you're within the city limits you could check with city hall. I've looked at their website but wasn't able to find anything. Hopefully the ordinances are kind to wanna be chicken owners!

Oh and,

If you're outside the city limits then county rules apply to you. In researching the only thing I found regarding county rules of "family or pet" chickens (not a commercial business) is that the coop has to be 30 feet from property lines. I did find a city of Granite Falls doc for ordinances that says you can have chickens but their dwelling has to be 100 feet from any residence. There didn't seem to be any restrictions on number of birds but there could be another doc that states that. If you don't get to vote for the mayor, you're outside the city limits.

Can an incubator be too full? Most of them are bantam eggs, there are only 41 slots in the egg turner. I've seen photos of eggs in incubators with eggs laying on top of the eggs in the egg turner....I guess that is what I will have to do?!?!?! I have to run out to do some errands, I will take a pic of them all resting tonight before I put them in.

If there are only 41 slots, but they are mainly bantam eggs- They're fine to fill up the 41. Naturally, even as they say on the instructions - You shouldn't completely fill it. Do you have another incubator or someone else who has one you can use? Because I really would NOT recommend putting the extra eggs anywhere else in the bator. I have one bator full, and the other with only 4 in it (originally 8 or so, but I culled some) and things are running well.

Well, I made the final sexing of our 8 black/blue Ameraucanas today. They're only a little over a month old, but we have 4 boys and 4 girls.

3 of those boys will go somewhere, and the best black one will stay and get extra pampered.

Hi all I just found this thread, I am finding more and more stuff on this great website every day! I am in between Everett and Snohomish, is there anyone else in my area? I have some eggs I want to hatch and my eggs in my LG are due to hatch on the 19TH so I don't want to add anymore in there. I have heard that staggered hatches are messy. I don't have much money so buying another incubator isn't an option. So I thought I would see if there is someone close by that has an empty incubator and wouldn't mind hatching some for me. I have 21 eggs, might have 24 by tomorrow. I need to get them in ASAP or I will have to toss some that are at the 10 day mark.

Couple of the newer peeps are in Lake Stevens, I'm in the former "Unincorporated Snohomish County," now Lake Stevens. We have a couple in Monroe/Duvall and Kirkland/Woodinville areas as well, as well as a couple in/near Granite Falls I believe. You're in good company.

sparklerose and all the other newbies!!!

Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I have more eggs than my incubator can hold. I do have a friend with one, may try and get it from her tomorrow, although I am setting them all in mine tonight....all 52!!!

I just put 3 eggs under my broody. She just started going broody a few days ago and was broody in dec, hatched out a couple chicks. I just couldn't resist when I figured out that Easter is in 3 weeks

yeah I set quail in my incubator last night.. this should be interesting. I can't keep the humidity stable for 8 hours, let alone think of lockdown in 2 weeks.. the sponges are helping, but I'm so nervous about the mad fluctuation.
