Here's the man. He's half Mottled Houdan, half Gold Laced Polish. And boy does he crow a LOT.

He's only 5 months old and probably weighs more than my Tolbunt Polish boys.

The pullet in front is pure Polish though.

And here's my molting Shamo boy, he's got leg warmers today! Today is our first official frosty morning. How about you folks? Any frost yet?

What a looker! He has the look of a tribal warrior about him. Gorgeous boy.

More data for Illia: 4, 5, 2, 1, 5

Some things sort of done. Now need to go to Del's, Trader Joe's, Fred Meyer's and Pet Smart, argh.

Okay - tried to get some decent pics of the chicks who are 6 1/2 weeks old now. Of course, every time I point the camera at them they turn and run away from me. Not like my media savvy Faverolles girls who LOVE the camera.
Hope you see this Illia and can help us sex these EE babies. Let me know if you need different views of them. They need to find a new home soon - I've run out of room for them.
Hoping for mostly pullets so they're easier to rehome!

To differentiate I'm clumsily referring to them as:

Chick A: White with white head
Chick B: White w/darker head
Chick C: Lighter red with necklace
Chick D: Red with more black
Chick E: Black w/brown

Chicks A and B

Haha - Looks like we're all sending our homework to Illia for grading!

I'm still trying to get a picture of the nine which doesn't end up as an undifferentiated lump o' chick; I haven't had time to get individual shots of them, and the group shots are dominated by them trying to hide under each other.

I will point out that my cousin's EEs are and have always been hard to take pictures of; on the other hand, the Ameraucan rooster from CL loves to pose.

the trick we found to get pictures:

drape a bath towel over the commode
grab one chick, put it on the towel, take a picture quickly
put that chick in a spare cardboard box

lather, rinse, repeat ....

*** oh and then, when you have taken all pix, put them back in the brooder where they belong

wow, what an assortment !

C and D appear that they will look much like their mommies, though C is lighter (Columbian genes ?)
my guess is that E is Deirdre's chick, since she has by far the most black on her (and apparently no Columbian genes in this chick)
I love that A and B came out white (or silver) with black

you certainly can tell one from another ! and not have to leg-band them as I had to do

now Ron, Suzanne has priority on these; you might have to wait ... or get some of my eggs before the gals stop laying ... or maybe I'll have to borrow Dana's incubator and hatch some out for you
