Fabulous! Maybe you could organize a class - not for free, mind you. Charge for what you've learned!
On another note, if Dottie doesn't quit trying to sleep in the tree above the coop, I may be chaging her name to Zachaeus.

I ended up clipping the Spitz wings to keep them home.

The Hamburgs are going to end up with most of the fenceline of the back yard under wire so they can have plenty of run and still not fly off, I expect.

One night last week mommy Juno decided that all the roosts in the big coop must belong to her and her chicks...bullying the pullets to the lower nestboxes. The next night all four pullets were about 10 feet up in the cedar - higher than I had ever seen them! They must have decided the tree was better than getting beaten up by Juno again. I had to use DS's critter net to pull them out of the tree and put them in the coop. Hoping this will be impossible once they get a bit bigger...never had this problem with the other girls!

Is there room for more roosts?

Oh - there are three roosts already - she just wanted them ALL! I have been monitoring the issue - has not happened again. Just in a bad mood that night I guess!

Yep - Whitey wants no one on either side of her and her boys, and no one underneath either. The rest of the birds are having to make due with sitting on whatever roost space is left or on the arms that support the roost. They seem to work it out, although *I'm* a little uncomfortable with it. I'm not sure why she couldn't just stay in the little condo I had supplied for her and the kids since there was plenty of room. But nooo, she wanted the big house.

The time I really have to watch them is when they're going to bed. Once the lights are out all is fine. I just move all the chickies to their own roost with mama and stand there while Juno growls at each pullet as they find their spot on the opposite roost. Kinda funny

since I know it will go away once she is done being a mommy. (These pullets are her last batch of chicks!)

Hey guys! HI!!!!

I'm a little worried since I don't have the Walduck Astoria to keep them dry and warm this time around! I have some plastic and I'm gonna try to figure out how to maybe set up the heat lamp. It's hard to come up with a temporary solution! I'm more of a glue it, nail it, screw it and it will never go anywhere ever again kind of gal!!

Ok.... I'm off to work! Hope everyone's week goes much better than last week! I'm thinking and praying for all of you!

I'm not sure if we had a hard frost in our area, but it sure was cold this morning! And a pretty sunrise too

I took pictures - but they never translate!

So...I'm trying to figure out how to thread a sewing machine
smile.png
And I cannot find the manual online!

Once I figure it out - I want to make an advent calendar with pockets for my teenage DD. Then I'll drop little packages in each like barrettes, nail polish, candy, flower seeds, etc. And for the last day she'll get an iTunes card or something for the last day. That's why I'm starting a month early - and it's already taken me 30 minutes to not find the manual!

It doesn't help that I keep getting distracted here

So...does anyone know how to thread a ALTA 500s? Or have a manual they could scan?

Hey lady! With all your stresses, dont forget to take care of yourself as well! Anytime your up this way let me know, and I put on a pot of coffee or something! lol I put the two little guys in the coop last night! So far so good! They still have all their feathers, and the girls dont seem to be picking on them at all!

Its a beautiful COLD day! My ice scraper alone this morning was not enough to clear my windshield! 2 gallons of room temp water, defrost on high, AND the ice scraper... My hands were frozen! Enjoy the sunshine today, we never know how long it will stay around!
