Thanks, you guys, for all your replies about my roo. He’s a Big Guy, probably close to 15lbs. RR, you’re right, it does hurt! And I can’t believe your roo came at you again, after all that you did! CF, thanks for confirming that 5 months is young for this kind of aggression – and I’m really sorry you had to cull such beautiful boys. WA4H, it's been warmer here, too, and he came at me when I was saying hi to the girls ... who were up on the roosts to get away from him.
It just seems to me that life is too short to have an aggressive roo, especially one this size. I’m going to try CRs, RWs and RRs suggestions – and see if I can find my old tennis racquet (LOVE that idea, Kaneke!). I’m also going to make sure I’m wearing jeans, boots and gloves – no more clogs and sweats in there for me. He gets one more chance – only because I worked too hard to get him through the pasty vent stage when he was a chick – but if he comes at me again with that kind of aggression, then it’s off to Camp Kenmore. And CL, your birds are beautiful – we’ll be talking, no matter where I am

For anybody that has chicken / poultry wire over your runs. I would suggest you shake any snow off to avoid the collapse of your run.

So far we got 1-2 inches. They are saying we could get up to 3" here at my place.

We do....and we have at least 3" so far.
The bad part is that the rain yesterday froze to the nets, so now the snow is sticking...usually it falls off, but not with ice on them

My Mom called first thing this morning (all excited ! ) and said Dad went out with a ruler and they have gotten about 6" so far (overnight) and it is still snowing there, in Elma.
Grays Harbor has alot of weather come through there, more than we get here.

 We have like 3/4".

Hmmm. . . I have a nice heated, insulated coop and run that is predator proof if anyone needs it. :gig

I couldnt believe it either lol. I really am not mean to my animals but I am not going to be walking around backwards because of a rooster that I pay to feed. after our initial battle I would chase him away from the girls and not let him come near on occasion. if he was respectful when I went out there I would make sure to throw the good treats to him so he could share it with his girls. and it was spring like 4Hmom said, Roosters are not always stupid, they can figure out that picking a fight with you ends badly, but I see a lot of them that never figure that out lol

Jack is loving the snow!
he sure looks dirty in the white snow!
See him running & playing in the top photo to the right?
Goofy pup!

I can't keep my old dogs in the house: snow seems to be the fountain of youth for them. Not so much for me, though, my hips are not bending or unbending at all well :/

Chookies ran out their coop doors, saw the snow (with the others inside pushing to get out ) and took one look & went right back in again..a good day to stay indoors !!!!!!!!

We are getting a sun break inbetween dark clouds & blizzards of big flakes & then the whole thing repeats intself, about every 15 minutes.....
I am gonna go sew more tote bags again...or read, or paint or something

I had to carry a shovel with that nasty mean RIW I had...........even the hens would jump & spur and they LOVED to grab a hunk of your forearm & twist so I ended up with plyer-like bruises and sometimes hunks of meat missing !
That Cock would NOT back down!
After smacking him with a shovel (and trying to get out of the pen backwards) he would come at us again & again...I finally resorted to kick boxing....and then Freezer Camp.
