i am letting my friends know they need a small game animal permit and they can stake out the chicken coop. the bobcat has to be sealed and given to fish and game.

Hey all!
Well, we survived our EPIC snow/ice storm! 24 inches total. Came up over my knees.Spent 2 hrs digging our car out of the ditch(Yukon XL). DH was trying to beat the snow down in our driveway so that I could take the kids to their pian lessons. He couldn't see where the ditch was and ended up in it! It was sweet of him to think of me. Now, every time I move, I think of him!

Then we lost power but only for a day. Our power guys here are great and worked very hard in nasty/dangerous conditions to get our power back on.
Had a tree next to the house snap off and come crashing down! That was exciting!
And the best news was that my PET scan came back clear!!!
No bone cancer!
So I am back to just dealing with BC!
Hope every body is well!
Ill never get caught up so I just thought I'd better jump in where I was!

dad and john did a head count and locked everyone in./....... 46 chickens.... i have lost all my valuable roosters... i have 2 roosters......

my chickens will not be seeing sunlight again till spring... maybe not even after.

dad said many disappeared the past 2 nights with no bodies found.... the 2 bodies found were killed within the pen.

these critters are dead now.

come spring time i will need to buy new icelandic rooster and hens... and new blue birchen marans.......

I'm sorry. That just sux.

Mid thirties and raining here. Ginger came down from her tree this morning. She's under the deck with the rest of the big girls.

Broodytood!!! That's such awesome news!!!! Thilled to hear it!!!!!

Reimerra, soooo sorry you lost so many birds. Hope the situation gets resolved soon.

Hope those without power are doing ok.

We lost power again last night at 2:00am, but it came back just a little while ago around 1:00pm. Thrilled to hear about RRF's chicks hatching!!!! Gives me hope that my eggs are not totally lost!!! Keep in mind the boiling water in ziplocks as a solution if you ever have eggs going and lost power. Works well with the LG styrofoam type incubators. I put one quart size baggy in the corner, about half full of boiling water, double bagged. It kept the temp inside the incubator above 90 degrees for about 4 hours, then changed it with fresh hot water. Then covered the incubator with loads of blankets to help keep in the heat. Hoping really hard this did the trick and I have babies next week! Seramas are due on the 26th, and the others on the 29th. We shall see I guess!

ReiMiraa - Wow, that sucks big time.

Broodytood - Congrats! That is awesome - must be such a relief!!

Our electricity went out (not sure how long) during the night last night, and my aquarium filter got fried. So I'm off the pet store to buy a new one.

Q. We should have regular temps in the 40s (at least for now) and lows in the upper 30s. Would it be crazy to put this little chicken (about 7.5 weeks) outside with the big girls (3 months older)? Too cold? Too young?

Good to hear she came down. Good girl!

A slushy mess here, it seems I cannot be happy, no too big on snow anymore, loathe rain, and where do I live ? Really! :)
