If ANY hatchery / feed store had true Ameraucana, they wouldn't be the silver variety, they are extremely rare. You have EEs. ;)

That's good to know. So... is there any way to tell if our Easter Egger will be a hen or Roo? I was hoping it *might* be the silver because the feather coloring is coming in looking more like the coloring on the adult silver hen. It is supposed to be the same age as our Rhode Island Red and Light Brahma - but it is growing the fastest, learning to do the most (flying and roosting) and it is significantly larger than the RIR and a little bit larger than the Light Brahma.

Here's my "Americauna"s from Reber Ranch. NO, I guarantee you they aren't true "Ameraucana"s. Mine also grew very fast and are the largest in my flock. One is bigger than the other though and I'm afraid my Martha is a Marty...only time will tell.
This is "Lay-a":

And here's Martha (or maybe Marty):

Here's a RIR (roo I think) I got at Reber:

...and his/her "sister", hatched same day:

Scruffy, ugly things at this stage huh?

Please please please let Martha be a girly, we love her so!

One of the cool things about EEs is that with many of the feather patterns, you can tell what sex they will be. Lay-a and Martha are indeed girls. ;)

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in and say hello! I'm a fellow Washingtonian living in Covington. I have 11 girls (thought a few might be roo's, bummer) and they're about 4 weeks old. Can't wait to join in some chatter here :)

If you just need a generic roo....I am sure someone can fix you up.

Also welcome to the chaos that we call "Washingtonian" web site. The people are wonderful. The information incredible. And some of them are just down right crazy. BYC is a wonderful web site with a wealth of information. Have fun...don't worry if you can't keep up...just jump right in.
