Well I missed the last 2 weeks. There are almost 150 pages of posts to catch up on. Uf Da!!!. I doubt that I will read them all. I spent the first week with DH home, and feeling sicker than a dog. I misplaced one of my prescriptions, and I think it was withdrawal symptoms that had me sick. I didn't realize that this particular drug had withdrawal symptoms. I have always blamed most of the symptoms on other things. So I have learned something once again.

The past week has been spent trying to catch up on everything. I have gotten somethings done, and I am hoping that the weather will be as nice as they say for the next few days. As soon as things get warmer, I seem to manage to get things done. I got a 4x4 post set today. It is the post that my garden gate will latch to. Normally DH and I work together to set 4x4s. This is the first time I have ever done it by myself. I felt like a big girl afterwards. I even did a happy monkey dance.

If there has been any notable news let me know. I am sure that I have more to say, because I know that I have thought about all of you in the past 2 weeks. I did have a complete failure of the hatch that I set up three weeks ago. I am going to have to make modifications to the incubator, before I try anything more bought eggs.

Yes I'm sure that many are trying to do just that. I don't have any problem with moving here, as long as "people" don't try to change things to the way they had it back where they are from! If you don't what most people do and "when in Rome" so to speak that's fine! I personally have had too many experiences other wise, but again, I still try to get to know someone first. God knows I've been new in a few places in my life too! But, other than not really wanting to leave WA when I was in the Navy and they made me go to CA, I may have never went. But, look, Seattle has turned into just that! I can tell you it was not like that in the early 80's, I was there. I agree, people need to slow down!!! Life is too short......really!

I have a little bantam rooster that has to go - I don't care if he gets eaten, he's a mean little turd. I reached in to the bachelor run to get the water container out to clean it, and he ran up and attacked me; he does it every time. So this time I grabbed him by the legs and held him upside down for a little while as I did some chores. When I put him back upright, he rested on my arm a moment and then flew up and bit my face! I have 2 big red welts on my cheek! He's my only bad roo; Cinnamon, now known as Cinnamon S**t-head. My other 3 bantam roos, and my 3 big roos are all nice. The Barnevelders used to give me a little attitude but a minute of upsidedown time let them know who's boss and they have not been disrespectful since August. I should get rid of 2 of my other bantam roos as well, but Raspberry and Herb are to sweet to eat.

OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!! You really don't want someone else to have problems with him, maybe it's better to cull him...just sayn!
Jeez good luck! I personally would have stomped him, I hate mean chickens, there is just no reason for it!!

CL: These are for you. Wanted to let you know what harsh conditions I have put your baby turkey's in. Oh, does not look like WE will be doing any butchuring this fall. We may sell 1 or two and then next year I will have to "hide" some so that no one gets attached and then we can butchur. OH...paypal is on its way.

Quick question for y'all: What are your favorite chicken books? RIght now I have:
A Chicken in Every Backyard (from a pacific northwestern chicken farmer in Portland, by far my favorite chicken book so far!)
Chick Days (bought it for my kids to be able to see what to expect during the baby times with our chickies
Storey's Guide to Keeping Chickens (so far it's been the most comprehensive guide)
The Joy of Keeping Chickens (sucked...it's for big time farmers, not backyard chickeners like myself)

Basically, I really like being an expert at stuff I get involved in. I would like to start collecting chicken books and come up with a little library on my kitchen shelf of great resources. I know I already want The Chicken Health Handbook but can't think of others that I know will be really good resources. Thanks all!
I have the chicken health hand book, it is pretty good, so is the Storey's guide, most of their books are awesome. I have gotten a lot of information on the web, especially University websites.

About the Californian thing:

It was the thing to do to bash Californians ever since way back at least to when I was in elementary school in the 70's. I knew no Californians, not one, but that's what we did. I have no idea where it started from.

I love California, I love E Wash. I love Seattle and now I love the South Sound. Everywhere has good people and bad.

Goodnight!

Sorry I didn't even know there were Californians when I was in elementary school in the 70's??? believe me I don't bash anything just to bash it!! I didn't meet any till the 80's, but, then I met lots of people from a lot of places, while in the Navy.
