Hey everyone! Hope you are all out enjoying the gorgeous weather. Anyway, I am currently in the market for a couple of specific birds, so I thought I would put the word out. I would like to try and buy locally instead of having them shipped.

Anyway, I am looking for a pair (roo and hen) of Dutch Bantams, I am looking for 1-2 white silkie hens, and I am looking for a Sicilian Buttercup roo. If anyone has any that they would like to sell or maybe do a swap or something, that would be awesome! I do have two White Wyandotte Bantam Roo's that I would consider trading/selling. They are good quality birds.

Thanks everyone!

Well today started out as a bad day. Our "bad" dog got out and killed my Iowa Blue. She was my only one. Annie is now back in the kennel and we've got a bungee on the gate. That keeps her from getting out, but I couldn't find it this morning when I put her out. Figures that she'd get out the day I don't. At least I was home and able to stop her from getting any others. If she HAD to kill a bird, why couldn't it have been an extra rooster?! I'm upset with her, but more for me. With how my luck has been, I should have known better and I should have barricaded the gate if I couldn't find the bungee! She's a sweet dog, but she's an adult Rotty with the mind of a puppy. She likes to play, but doesn't realize she's big, and plays way too roughly. We've been really good about her being around other animals. You'd think that it'd affect the chickens and they'd stay in the run, right? *sigh* No one has ever said they're geniuses.

They immediately hopped the fencing. Tonight they're getting clipped.

After, I decided to go ahead and work in the poultry yard/ garden. I've been building raised beds for a few days (My F-i-L was the head contractor on the new addition of Christ The Rock here in PO, and all the left over stuff that they couldn't return was up for grabs. We have 2 car trailers stacked with wood, bundles of rebar, and buckets of sheet rock mud.) and so today I moved and cleaned the coops, and started installing beds.

Glad note: my young hens are laying! I'm getting (regular) brown eggs, blue eggs, green eggs, and pale pink eggs.

Can't wait for my Marans to start laying (the Wheatens are only a week old, but I'm egg-cited!). I'm fairly sure I got 2 hens and a roo of those. I still have 8 BC's in the 'bator. I also have some RIR eggs in the bator too, but those are for sale.

BIG REQUEST! Does anyone have a tiller I can borrow? I just need to till a 22' x 30' plot that isn't hard-packed, but I can't do all of it by hand. My back is protesting already. I'll only need it for a few hours. I'd rather borrow from someone here in PO or close by.

Thanks Jenn. I'm bummed, but I gotta remind myself that they've been free-ranging and that's a risk one takes. If not my dog, a neighbor's.

Well, the table saw (that's not it's name, but it's a saw attached to a table, so that's what I'm calling it. But it was a really cool one that you slid the saw through the wood, not the other way around.) died on me yesterday. Now I've gotta use a skill saw which I'm sure is going to maim me one of these days. I'm a walking catastrophe!

I'm going to be selling eggs to friends soon. Does $3.50 a dozen sound ok? In the store last summer they we're anywhere from $3 to $4, so I went in the middle. Then again, food prices have increased lately... IDK. I said I'd drop $.50 if they gathered them themselves. LOL.

Just started calling around. Eggs are anywhere from $3.59 to $5 for cage free eggs! Jumpin lizards!

Another sad note. I've got RIRs hatching and the first one gave up. It was breathing and chirping then a half an hour later it wasn't. It spun around in the egg AFTER pipping and starting to zip, and then just died. I broke it open and I don't know why it did that. Everything looked fine, and it's beak was exposed to air, so why did it spin and suffocate itself (at least, I assume that's the cause of death)? I guess I just saw "Survival of the Fittest" in action. I have a second one right now who's beak I can see. But I saw the last one's too, so now I'm paranoid. Sigh. Next weekend is BC Marans and then the wonderful Maddhatter can get his bators back.

Ok, enough procrastinating. I waited to work until the frost melted and folks woke up. Now it's time to make some noise with the roos!

Hey Selena,
Sorry to hear about your little RIR.

I think $3.50 is reasonable. We sell a dozen to our friends for $3, but DH thinks they are getting it for a steal - and after my last trip to the grocery store, so do I!

I had a question, I was wondering if anyone close to/around the Monroe area may have an incubator that is currently being unused that they may be willing to rent out for a hatch? Just figured I would give it a shot

and any others I missed.

Bikergirl, Do they let you have chickens in Issaquah! I thought it was too uppity for that now. I grew up there--it's sure changed...

My brooder is up and running and ready for sexed Easter Eggers!.....Saw some at the feed store today, but they couldn't tell me if they were sexed or straight run.

I work in Issaquah, at the museum. Our next door neighbor has chickens and we talk chooks all the time. I haven't heard of too many places in WA that DON'T allow chickens anymore. Anyone in an area that has trouble with that?

chookchick surprisingly yes you can, if you have a big enuf property. . . I dont lol. My husband and I have a condo, so all I have here are my chicks in brooders. I have 2 hens and 3 quail @ my mom's shes up on the Plateau (Now named Sammamish) And I have some friends that have a cabin in Eston/Cle Elum thats where my other chickens and rooster live.. . . I need my own farm!!!!!!!!!!

How many eggs are you planning on hatching? I have a GQF Sportsman 1502 that I won't be using for a month. I'm in Granite Falls though.

God Bless,
