Oh my goodness... my little Drama reeks so bad tonight! I could smell her halfway across the yard. I don't have any pet shampoo... does it have to be a special shampoo? If I'm going to buy something, I want to buy the right thing.

So... tonight we finally moved the coop from the back yard to it's final home on the side of the house. It messed with the girls heads again - so they were ALL sleeping on the floor. Thank goodness. Hopefully, Drama will get a break from being a poop catcher. They were getting very aggravated with us - we didn't get it moved until 9:15... 45 minutes past their bed time.

Here's the coop (before it moved to the side yard)... (ignore the huge blue tarp behind the 2nd picture - that's the run and wood for it up on a saw horse)

And, here's the inside. You can see Drama's roost down low, and my EE and RIR's roost up above. I measured the "high" roost - it is only 16" and Drama still can't get up there. At the very least, I'd like to get her on the low roost so she stays out of the poop zone. I don't think it would be fair to completely remove the roost for the other two just because Drama can't get up there - or would it?

Some folks spray with 401 & then wash them...this was recommended for white turkeys...by an old APA Judge.
I use no more tears, or any shampoo or even dish soap.

I get birds that go broody...but WOW....I would love to have a hen I could do that with. She is worth a ton of glue just for that reason (if you ask me).
I did not believe it until he "showed" us all.
he just lays the eggs in a nest & set the silkie in there & she climed aboard !!!

Chicken Math is nuts.

I started off with around a dozen miscellaneous birds for egg laying. At the present time - including chicks - I have ? I don't know. Let me add:
Hannna and 4 100% English Orps = 5
Che' and 4 Quincy chicks (75% E.Orps) = 5
Trio Seramas on 9 eggs = 3 +?
Layer pen, 1 roo & misc hens = 8
Quincy and Ellen = 2
Grow out pen 5 100% E. Orps = 5
Grow out pen 8 Golden Comets = 8 (for egg laying pen)
Martha with 5 babies (Seramas) = 6
Serama grow out pen = 18
Misc banty pen (good broodies) = 4
Voltron, AC and other serama hen = 3

Is this all of them? Oh yeah, 6 Beltsville Turkeys. okay let me do the current math ....Um this is some 73 birds at present. I'm nuts. Okay, now I need to go and get ready to spend the day in Brewster at a swimmeet. Everyone have a good day.
Yeah I got about 200, and last I heard pips&peeps had over 300 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was not going to use wormers on my flock initially; I figured our grandparents did not. Then one day I saw a bunch of little itty bitty squirming things in a fresh chicken poop. That big of a parasite load can't feel good for the Hen. My girls free range all the time, and I have a lot of lavender and garlic and other plants in natural wormers that they scratch around in, but it did not prevent them. I read they can pick up a lot of parasites from eating earthworms. My chickens love earthworms, andy yard is full of them! On days that I am turning the garden soil or compost heap and expose the worms, all the hens are flocked around me gobbling up the worms. Feel their crops when they roost those nights and they are all squishy full of earthworms!
having a table egg customer (or hatching egg customer) complain of worms IN THE EGG is not cool either !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well when it was about 10 wks old I thought it was trying to crow. It kept standing the way a roo does when one crows but it did not come out like a normal crow it was more of a weird perrrring. To this day he/she has not done it again. I thought maybe where the white feathers are on it's neck would be "his" hackle feathers because "he" did not have that coloring untill this past week. Was always just black. I guess we will see, it would be great if this is a hen.
Sure is a cutie !!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm seeing that water coming out of rear ends of chickens could be a sign of worms. I don't see worms in poop ever, but I want to help my GLW with water explosions coming from her rear. Should I get Eprinex and treat the whole flock now, and again in 2 weeks? What's my best option? I'm still doing the bleach solution in their water. Should I take that out and just do ACV to help balance them out?
If you can get to a feed store & buy a bottle of WAZINE.......and treat your entire flock.
Then next week do Eprinex, a week after do the Eprinex again.
Repeat in the fall before winter sets in so the birds do not have a parasite load over the winter.
