and today I did the hardest thing of my old life! I had my 16 yr. old GSD Kala put to sleep.
I am very sorry, Ron. I know how much you were dreading this.

Glad Kim was there to help...thank goodness for wonderful friends.

Well the girls were sooo happy when I finally let them outside tonight at 6pm. They only just went in the roost, they didn't want to come back, LOL! It's nice to not have so much poop around the yard to clean though. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the inside of the run. I think I'll toss some compressed straw in there tonight and see how tomorrow goes. I don't want the flies out of hand because there is too much poop accumulating, but scooping out an 8x16' run every day with a cat litter scoop is lame

Coastal Farm and Ranch couldn't order me the Denagard. They said it was vet only, meaning I needed a Rx for it??? So I ordered it from QC Supply. Anyone know how long it takes to get an order from them? Shipping was $10 "Pharmaceutical" method. Thanks!

Thanks everybody for your condolence's. You all are great people

Man you don't know how many times this afternoon I was outside and turned around and expected to see Kala there.because she was always right behind me. I will be ok in two days. I'll still miss her but no more tears!

But my day got worse. On the way home from work my daughter was on the freeway in rush hour and she bumped the car in front of her. the two screws on her license plate scratched the guys bumper. No marks on her car. She called me crying her eyes out. she said the guy was nice and said he would get an estimate and let her know how much it would be. so we can pay out of pocket instead of insurance. I called him and he was nice and told me to tell her not to worry. So watch the auto repair place will want to replace the whole bumper

. so my daugther comes out our house instead of going home. she gets out of her car throws her arms around me and starts crying again. The landlord comes up the drive way and says whats the matter? my daughter tells them about the accident. They say oh I thought you might have put Kala down! my daughter looks at me and I said I did put Kala down today. and then she just lost it. she is the one that picked Kala out at six weeks old!

and today I did the hardest thing of my old life! I had my 16 yr. old GSD Kala put to sleep. she had arthritis so bad she had trouble getting up and down and walking. and her side vision was almost completely gone. I could write a book on what a great dog she was and all the fun we had. but I know some of you have lost Great dogs too in the last couple of years, and you know what I'm talking about and the hurt I'm feeling right now

. I know time will heal things. even though my dog was a big part of our family especially to me , I know she was just a dog and Not Human!

I know several of you have lost parents recently and Dave lost a very young daughter ! I don't know how you guys can go on with that kind of hurt!
I admire you people!

I want to thank Kim !!! she went with me to the vet and even helped me bury Kala what a Sweetheart she is

So sorry Ron. I know how it hurts. I've lost a few really good dogs in my life and each one hurts like H . Then I finally find another and the hurt eases but I have never forgot my pals. From boyhood to becoming an adult and middle age and now into my last years. I remember them all and I'm better for it and you will be too my friend.

So sorry for your loss of Kala, Ron.

I'm looking at doing the same thing with my 12yo Persian, Felix. I got his abdomen drained and he was good for a few days, but 2 weeks later and he looks so skinny, and I didn't seen him eat or drink anything while I was home. (I left last Friday for Eugene to help my parents go through my grandmother's estate).

My DH says that Felix is just moving from one sleeping spot to the next. He hasn't noticed him eating, either. He also says that Felix is now incontinent and has found puddles near his sleeping areas.

(But nothing else.)

I get back on Friday and get to make plans for the rainbow bridge.
