Wanted you to know Ricky is happy and safe at a farm in Enumclaw. They don't eat their birds and last I heard he was quite happily roosting in a tree over a bunch more Appenzellar pullets![]()

Thankfully Blackberry & Blueberry were co-mamas...so Blueberry just took over. But I won't let Blueberry go broody again either, they are both mean when broody (not normally!)
I will just let Juno, our Jersey Giant, do all the hatching around here. She's older, experienced, and knows I won't harm her or her chicks and allows me to handle them.
If it would help you out and make ya feel better...... I would be willing to make time during my day to go fishing in place of ya. I would even be willing to tell ya how much fun it was and how many nice fish I caught on yer behalf ! ! !![]()

I know how you feel. I have 11 birds who are of laying age (my two youngest are 20 weeks now)......my Leghorn is 24 weeks and no white eggs yet.....I'm gettting only 4, maybe 5 a day. Usually a mix of 2 brown and 2 green, or 3 and 2 of either color.I'm getting frustrated. I'm still only getting one egg a day (a couple of times, 2 eggs; a couple of times, no eggs) and they've been laying for 9 days. Am I just being way too impatient? There's only 3 that have started so far and they're all (well, most of them) almost 21 weeks. I guess I thought that once someone started they'd all kinda fall in line and start laying right away. Probably got some bad info somewhere along the line on that huh?

Oh I'm glad to hear that! Guess I'll just have to be more patient. I just hope they are all laying before we lose the light; I'm going to be one unhappy mama if some of them aren't laying until spring!!!
