Giving her egg back wont make her quiet. Thats just what they do! Most of my hens are louder than my roosters!

Oh no. You've got to be kidding. My birds have hardly made any noise during their first 18 weeks and I seem to finally have gotten the approval of the neighbors. All of the neighbors in the cul-de-sac have commented how they never hear my birds.

Are there any quiet breeds? What about slikies?

I just put them back in chicken prison. At least the run is the farthest point away from any of the neighbors. But... that chickie is still going off in panic mode. I know I'm going to hear about this from some very unhappy people. I think my next building project might be a sound proof room.

Ive noticed my slimmer body typed birds seem louder. My fatter ones like cochins, brahamas, barred rock, australorps, they arent as fussy.
My ancona goes off alllllllllllllllllll day. Somedays I want to to chop her head off. My egyptian is a squawker too! When those 2 get going back and forth...oh man.
I have 7 roosters right now, and seriously even combined, they are not as noisy as my hens.

Well, I certainly tried to show you the error of your ways. Never put off fishing to tomorrow, it may be stormy, work will wait. Haven't you ever heard this wise homily b4?

Yup, but as of yet the loft is not done, the contractor has not shown up, and the loft must be done to put the roof trusses on...and I go by the constant voice in the back of mind SURELY you have heard:

Winter is always coming !
Roof must be done, wood must be cut & split and stacked, food must be gathered & stored...etc etc etc ..........

The Salmon will be back.
As of now, I see DH has attached the battery charger to the little boat......and he has re-spooled his pole..........eggs are marinated in jars in the fridge, herring is marinated in brine in the freezer....now we waite for the tides.

show us hackle and saddle feathers - and the tail. If using a digital camera, check out the "tulip" icon - that often helps focus when taking close ups.

That comb is suspect.
X2.................dig on her saddle area for long skinny shiny feathers....and 3 rows of "peas" in a pea comb usually is a male.
A female has 1 row of "peas"

See I guess what I'm having a hard time deciding is if I want a bunch of mediocre laying GORGEOUS birds running around the backyard, or if I want to only feed them if they're giving us an excellent amount of eggs; so far I haven't found a truly pretty bird I want to have around, that also lays a lot of eggs. I don't like the look of RIRs or most of the other production breeds. Can you guys recommend birds that are pleasing to the eye and lay at least 70-80% of the time?
