I just found this and had to share. Keep in mind this was in the Chehalis area.

‘WE CAN’T HELP YOU”
• An individual from Southwest Chehalis Avenue in Chehalis called 911 on Friday afternoon saying he wanted to talk to an officer because although his chickens won at the fair last year, nobody will buy his eggs. He wanted to take someone to court, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Further details were no readily available as no report was written. It was labeled a civil issue, police said.

My girls are just great lookin'. They come running when I call them, (nah, not really but on any trip into the back yard they come running. The little gluttons are looking for treats, most will squat down when I reach for them so I can pet them and they let me pick them up if I want to) and I average 5 eggs every day now from 7 hens but it's building to 6/day from the RIR's. The 2 Eng Orps that I have are still too young to lay yet, but getting close.
You might like the Eng Orps, I have a blue and a black and they look like huge giant chicks, pretty cute and very mild mannered.
If you by any chance have R/C RIR, Rare Feathers farm is looking for eggs~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

See the name.....Chubby Chicken. You mean the two tablespoons of rice milk? or the .00 grams of cheese? Good of you to assume.

Chickens don't have any use for cellulose, but their diets usually have lots of corn in them.

1 cup of leftover ND Mac divided by 44 chickens = concern?
I feed mine just about any left overs, yesterday the Cuckoos had a few cups left over smash-a-taters

I am wondering if anyone raises ,meal worms. are they delicious? Just kidding. I am wondering if the beetles escape a lot. The one day that I watched the news this year, there was a segment on a gal that raises them in a small, plastic, rolling cabinet. Many articles referred to the lid on the container. The rolling little dresser had, I am guesstimating, 1/4" gap for clearance.

Will the beetles crawl out?
Talk to 4312 about that...she has meal worms coming out of her ears she says.................

Mine were also on some medicated pig starter (don't ask), so I waited a week before eating the eggs, just in case. It was torture, I assure you.
At POL, they should be well off any medicated feed and on layer.

Edited to add: OR Turkey/Basic high protein in the case of larger fowl such as Marans or Buckeyes or Jersey Giants.

I just spent a while in the run with the girls. Ethel is laying an egg. 5 others were vying for the nest box! They won't lay in the coop nest boxes at all. I bought another basket and filled it with straw and a dummy egg and the girls were rooting around in there too. Also, my compressed straw is in a rubbermaid bin and the girls were making a nest on the top of that thing while I was in there, LOL! Guess if they don't like their choices they find a better option! I think I'm going to figure out how to remove the inside partition of the rabbit hutch and put 2 nest boxes in there, then do one or two more milk crates (deeper and offer more security than a shallow basket) in the run. I hope we have more than 3 eggs today, seems like we will!
