My experience with frogs: one hid in a hiking boot that I left outside due to stepping on dog poo. When I started to put it on the next day, the frog leapt out and scared the daylights out of me. I don't feel sorry for Frogger (video game) anymore when he gets hit by a car.

Hah! Amazingly, though I'm afraid of basically every other insect or crawly thing on the planet, I don't mind frogs at all! We find them daily in the yard, and last week at my sister's house Jeanine looked over on the deck and said "Look there's a big ol' frog under the table!" and sure enough, there it sat, the size of my whole fist, sitting next to my foot. They had a blast chasing it around and taking turns holding it, and then let it go. Frogs are cool!

A slow cooker. That's a good idea. Cook all day while you're out and about. We usually get back late, and then make a late meal with tired/crabby kids. I'll try to remember that one next time we go.

Have you ever stayed in Gleneden (OR)? Just curious what it was like. We got a special needs unit over spring break this year. I'm going to go pick up my mom from the retirement center and the kids and I will spend a week with her. We're very excited to see her. We usually stay in Seaside (and, actually, currently have both Seaside and Gleneden booked at the same time - I need to cancel the Seaside reservation), but I couldn't get a special needs unit in Seaside. I was a little bummed. I hope Gleneden is nice.

We usually bring a nicely frozen chicken or such and stick in there while we're gone. It's perfect! I've also done slowcooked chili.

The only thing I've heard about Gleneden (haven't stayed there) is that there isn't much beach access nearby. It's more of a stormwatch location.

We stayed in Seaside over the 4th for a week and it was pretty nice! LOVE Victoria (get there once or twice a year) and Long Beach and Oceanside. But, I must say, my favorite was Rotorua in New Zealand :)

OOOOOHHH, YOU'RE NEAR A RESERVATION! NO WONDER FIREWORKS GO OFF SO MUCH THERE! THAT IS JUST SO TERRIBLE YOU HAVE TO LIVE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT NEIGHBORS MIGHT SAY. THERE ARE THOSE WHO LIVE TO MAKE TROUBLE FOR EVERYONE. I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT A DOG! IT'S DISTURBING THAT PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT ABOUT ANIMAL BEHAVIOR AND HAVE NO COMPASSION IN REGARDS TO THEM!

MAN! I LIVE TO THE SE OF SUNNYSIDE BY ABOUT 45MIN - 1HR AND MY IRRIGATION BILL WAS ~$350 FOR THE YEAR! HMMMM....

MEALWORMS MAYBE???
When we bought there was just a BINGO hall. A few years later a huge Casino was built about 2 miles from our home. Then, we learned about a 100 year land agreement was expiring and the land was beginning to be bought back by the tribe and reverting to reservation land. Our land, unfortunately, did not fall within those blocks. Now, our property values are next to nothing and we couldn't give our house away - which means we can't move as much as we want to. We're hearing that a huge off-ramp will be brought up to our street from Hwy 18 for easy access to the Casino. Not happy about that, either. There's a lot of people who have lived here for 40 years, and have ideas of how this neighborhood should be - and some of those neighbors will complain to the city about every little thing. The city will cite owners who don't live on reservation land to help ease the complaints that happen throughout the neighborhood.

A family member lives in Sunnyside. The irrigation ditch is very close to their house - about 2 blocks away. Maybe that's why it is only $90?

Tried meal worms - the frog just stared at us like we were crazy. Just dropped a spider in. Tried to drop a fly in, but he got away. DH thinks it is ridiculous to stop off at the store for crickets - so we have no guarantees the kids will get to watch the frog eat. LOL!

A friend and I took a mom's get-a-way last year to Victoria. Oh my gosh - that was AWESOME. We ended up with a view of the marina. She's from Canada, and lived in Victoria for a few years, so I felt like I had a tour guide. She knew where everything was.

If no beach access is Gleneden's only fault, I'm not too concerned. I doubt my mom would be able to get out to the beach, and if there was a beach, the kids would bug me to take them, but I wouldn't leave my mom alone. Considering the nature of the trip, no beach access is good!

Oh... Jessica... the pool at the resort you're going to is kind of small. Not typical of WorldMark at all. You'll have to pick up a key from the office. Their office is in a different building - again, not typical. There's a beach behind a restaurant that is considered a "public" beach (although it is owned by the restaurant). It is open to the public except for Tuesday evenings when the restaurant hosts some event. And... a fun little tidbit - there's a beautiful huge brown building in the middle of the resort buildings. It is a condo complex - owned by the top 1%. The condos are 4,500 sq. feet each and the starting price was $1.5 million. Rumor has it that the guy who makes McDonald's cookies bought 2 of those and converted them to one huge condo. Darn - shoulda gone into the cookie business! From what we were told, quite a few professional athletes own many of the other condos.

Thanks! Good to know about the pool and restaurant. I think we'll probably only eat out once or twice or suffer the wrath of food intolerances. Hey are you going to be home this evening? Or Friday evening? I was thinking I could snag the car (or come while DH and I are out shopping) and come by for those trail guides and stuff. I want to see your coop too, still haven't even been to your house! (Gosh that's bad considering how many times we've hung out at mine

We have a lot of frogs. It's deafening in spring. Right now the small ones are just getting into everything. I have to fish them out of my recycle bin before I put it out on the curb so they don't get killed.

What's the earliest you'd switch a flock to layer feed if you had babies in it? My smallest girls are currently 11.5 weeks old. I have enough feed for maybe 2 more weeks. Is that way too soon to go to layer? Or should I just suck it up and pay out the few extra dollars for grower again, until they're 16 weeks?
