We just got home from an appt, and here in our driveway at the gate was the comcast truck, and I have not even called them this time.
He said he was sent cuz our signal was so weak...DUH!!! They are probably "listening" even as I write.
So after much inspecting, and lots of meters, he has said we needed a new modem...even though we just replaced this modem, and we need about 100 feet of new cable, so that is on the agenda for day after tomorrow I think.
I am so tired of getting 'kicked off; the web for loosing connectivity.
The guy said the cable we have is too small for the bundle...OK. Now they do not think I am crazy after all !

Ya, our garbage company has never done this (we live in the sticks)...they look like they would work really well, though. I am going to try and find something, premade, so I dont' have to try and build something. Anyone have any ideas?

That's soo funny~~I was TOTALLY thinking of doing this.. just this morning on my way into work I was kinda daydreaming about ways to make cheap nestboxes. .. and that idea of the old recycling bins popped into my head, because I think we have some behind our shop....

Mine both have curled drake feathers now (for about a week maybe?). And they just kind of do whispery hoarse noises. So I don't know ... Guess you still get to have faint hope?? One of my original Runner drakes was quite a quacker (though it was a bit lower than the females). I keep waiting for my new babies to start quacking (since I didn't get a single one last time around

) They are three weeks old now, but it might be closer to five weeks that they actually start quacking (or NOT

). I never can remember ...

I have used cat litter pans. They are easily to clean/sanitize and relatively cheap. They come in different sizes, too.

I officially put the brooder away. I took the screws out it and out them in the gray toolbox. I figure that if I wrote that detail down it might possible for me to remember where they are next spring when I need them. DH built it so that I could break it down into panels. This is the first time in two years that it is in storage. All the babies are now in the big coop. I am tickled that I got this done. The garage looks so much bigger, and tidier. I have needed to get this done for more than a week. I think it was all that lovely sunshine today.

justbugged, that was a big brooder.
I have another chick from the eggs I took away from my broody hens. It is a dark one too with white on the tips of its wings. If I had known another one would hatch I wouldn't have had to buy two chicks from the feed store to keep the last chick company.
I think I have found a home for my Ameraucana rooster. He is going to be picked up on Friday and go to a flock that needs a rooster. Yea!

Bear Alert.
Be real careful on alert for at least a couple more weeks.
The berries due to this cold spring are going to take at least that much longer around the Duvall area to be ready for eating.
Bears are out and about up where we live more then any time in the 18 years since we've lived here.
Without one of their food sources they normally have a lot of by now they are going places doing things they normally would shy away from.

Thanks for the reminder Greg. I was recently driving Lake Roesiger Road from Granite Falls to Monroe and saw a mommy bear and her two cubs crossing the road in an area where there are plenty of houses and people. It was cool to see since I was safely enclosed in my rapidly moving vehicle but I wouldn't want to meet her on foot!

It is a good reminder. I have a neighbor that is often seen on TV with the bears that have been trapped. It has been very cool to se the bears up close. of course they are rather cranky from being trapped, but at least they have a chance of being a bear in the wild again.

I am tell you all that this getting up at 7 am in for the birds. Here it is only 9:40 am, and I have already washed 6 dogs. I am a night owl and didn't turn the lights out until nearly 2 am this morning. I am looking forward to a nap.
