GAWD--the smoke here in Wenatchee is SOOOO thick you can TASTE it! We're down here helping DH's 80-year-old grandparents pack up their stuff...the fire is within 5 miles of their home now. They've lived in it for 60+ years....we've taken two trips to the other side of town (where my DH's aunt & uncle live)...I've never wanted rain so badly in my life! And none in sight.

I'm so sorry!

I've been to Lake Chelan twice now when fires were going on, and I know how sick I got from that. Those fires were much, much smaller than what you are dealing with now. i can't imagine what you guys have gone through this year with the fires. Praying you will all stay safe.

Heather I am so sorry to hear that. I so hope the fire lays down before reaching their home of so many years. and Hope you all get relief from the smoke. It is amazing but every once in a while we get the very strong smell.

We know that fire has to be bad. We've had smoke in the valley from it, and we're not that far from Puget Sound! A couple of days ago my smoke alarm kept going off - we're not exactly sure why. There was a distinct smoke haze in the valley, and around our home. ADT ended up replacing the alarm, even though the guy did say the haze from the E. WA fire could have caused it to go off. He also gave me a cover for the smoke alarm so we can now cover it if need be.

Ha ha ! Just waite til ya get to a big real poultry show !!! With geese, turkeys, GUINEAS and every kinda chook you can think of...it is fun really !

Are they bigger than fair shows?

I'm glad DH and I snuck away to the fair w/o kids this year. All the little bantams crowing may have unnerved my son. Their crow seemed to be a lot higher pitched. I dunno... the auction was probably louder than the fair was. I'm just glad there was a leghorn that kept sticking his head out of a box in front of him. That kept his attention. That, and a bunny nose.

SO SORRY FOR YOUR GRANDPARENTS-IN-LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's unbelievable how many people have been uprooted. The smoke has been horrible here and even left layers of ash on the cars so I can only IMAGINE what it's like there!!! Best wishes to you and yours!!!
