Are you sure you mean Northwest Washington? Your town list is specifically Northeastern Washington: Spokane, Deer Park, Coleville, Omak, etc. I'm asking for clarification because I do live in Northwestern Washington, on Whidbey Island specifically.

Do houses in Washington have basements? Very few, in my experience. Although we do have a lot of raised ranches.

What is a fart egg?

Fart eggs are the first tiny eggs that a hen lays as she comes into lay, they are usually tiny but perfectly normal in every other way.
There was someone on another thread that was advertising wanting to collect fart eggs from others so she could make jewelry out of them: necklaces and earrings for example...I will take a picture of the 2 fart eggs.

The sisters have never been around a mature roo, so it will be a learning process for them. I'm glad your enjoying them already. They are both friendly and can be vocal. They LOVE to anounce to the world that they have laid an egg. And they generally stayed paired together and would cackle together when one is laying. It sure is quiet here with the mature gals gone...

As for Chloe, she is a doll, but a HUGE monster too. At the moment she is standing in the middle of the living room attempting to sing "twinkle twinkle little star" though it sounds more like "tinkle tinkle ittle are" lol She sure is determined to talk.

When she does learn to talk you will not be able to get her to stop unless she is asleep!!!!!!!!!!!

And the sisters are doing great !
Let them out of the pen yesterday and they free ranged and went back in with the BBS Marans flock at dusk.
They think they are Splash Marans.
The mature Cuckoo Hens hate them though !
Got to keep those girls seperated for sure !

So here is the two fart eggs, one lighter was the first 2 days ago, then darker was yesterday's lay.
So my 2 PBR's are beginning lay.
I have no idea if there is tiny yolks inside, I never bust them up, they are too cute.
I am putting them in the egg carton with the big girl eggs to surprise my Mom.

It is very easy to homeschool in Washington State you either need two years of college for either yourself or spouse, or take a certified class on homeschooling. The third way is to get a district superintendent to sign off for you.(That rarely happens) Washington Homeschoolers Association should be online a lot of assistants. Spokane is the largest of the towns mentioned, all of the others are much smaller. Deer Park has the least amount of businesses in town. The other two both have Walmarts and multiple grocery stores. Most people I think are live and let live kind of people up this way. The are pockets of Arin Nation (aka Skin Heads) in that area of the state. For that matter there are a few compounds like that not far from me on the West side of the hills. It will be easier to find work in Spokane, and there is international airport that has direct service to Minneapolis Mn. I would consider Deer park an outlying suburb of Spokane. Metaline Falls is a gorgeous area. Most house on the West side don't have basements because it is way to wet to keep them dry. The older houses on the East side are much more likely to have basements. Most new construction rarely has basements anywhere that I have seen. Tornadoes do happen in Washington State about once a year we get a f1 or less touch down in the state. The earthquakes are predicted mostly for the West side of the state, where the earth plates meet up. The East side is more vulnerable to fall out from volcanic ash. Volcanos rarely go off in the Cascade range, and there is a lot of warning before hand. I live in the shadow of the mountain. So there are a lot of people that just don't spend a lot of time worrying about that kind of what if.
