I guess I'll have to break out the camera and get some new pics of him. He was even cuter when he was a baby. Wednesday looks like it will be a dry day to take pictures.

Thanks bheila,
I spend a lot of time on Kent East Hill. Never seems to be any traffic to deal with up here on the plateau. I used to have friends that lived in downtown Renton who would say that there was no rush hour in Renton cause no one wanted to be here.

You're so right about BYC. If I had a better DSL I'm sure I'd be mainlining by now. Now I have to bring the BYC stories to work. They ask me what the chicken people were talking about. They even seem disappointed when I tell them I wasn't on last night.

It's a bit of a long story. The people who lived across the street from me were a pretty dysfunctional group. This feral cat had showed up a couple years earlier, about 3 months old, under a shed. The people who lived there were shooting it with a pellet rifle.

And they actually bragged about it. I read them the riot act and reminded them that harming animals was a felony in Wa.Then it moved next door into the crackhead's carport. She was OK for a few years until the woman got a new boyfriend who hated cats, so they stopped feeding all 7. 5 either died or fled. 2 ended up in my backyard. Cleo, the feral, had just had a litter, and moved 3 into my yard. Then they disappeared. Started finding kitten pieces all over my yard after that. I'm guessing a raccoon or possum. I knew there would be another litter in the fall so I was on the lookout. One warm Sept day I had just gotten home from work when I heard a kitten loud enough to wake the dead. It was just on the otherside of the fence behind me. I climbed over the fence and in the ivy and weeds I found 2 kittens, eyes just opening. The one canterwauling had managed to get stuck in some debris. I brought both inside and started bottle raising them. A week later Cleo was sitting next to my bamboo meowing over and over again. The chickens were and still are sometimes laying in the bamboo. I went over to see what was going on and found another kitten curled up with a couple eggs in the bamboo nest. So I ended up raising all 3 kittens, all boys, I kept one and the other two were rehomed together. Next project was catching Cleo and getting her spayed. I kept her inside after that for a few months, but she hated it, so the following spring I let her outside. Where she lives with the other refugee from the crackheads. So I guess she knew it would better for her babies.
PS the crackheads are now gone.

Probably Meth Heads. We get a lot of them in Kitsap, and being in healthcare, lemme tell ya... they are FUN starting their 3rd day at the hospital. That's when they start to detox. I had one guy we had to put in restraints and he was freaking out. Seeing lizards holding him down and stuff running down the walls. Actually, I believe I heard that Kitsap is the Meth capital of the nation. Woo! What a distinction. So yeah... your neighborhood mustuve been a blast.

Thanks for rescuing Cleo and her lot. Rescuing animals is a hard (yet rewarding) thing to do. You spend a lot of time and money on an animal, but you get out the satisfaction of knowing you helped an innocent creature. (both of my lizards were rescues and man, exotic veterinary health is EXPENSIVE!)

With the DSL, I'm guessing you're talking about trying to sign on and nothing wants to load? I've found out that if you un-plug the power cord to the modem (for the tech un-savvy, that's the box with the phone cord plugged into it.) and plug it back in, after it re-boots it will USUALLY fix itself. I wish I could remember the address to reprogram your modem yourself. It's only happend to me 2x in 2 years, so I don't save it.

I've usually liked Qwest, until they switched their cell phone to Verizon. Man, I LEFT Verizon because I hated it, and now I gotta go back?! They've even screwed up our billing. Got most of our address but forgot some key things... City and State!

*Ren impersonation* Eeeediots!

Welcome to all! Nice to see the WA group grow so much.

Anyone interested in splitting an order of chickies in the spring (Feb-Mar) from Ideal or MPC? Coffeelady78 (Dena) and a frend of mine from work are going to go in on an order with me. We're all craving silkies and who knows what else will appear. Let me know!!

DBF wants an EE, and I want a buff orp & a silkie. We've only got room for 2-3 girls unless we really reconfigure our space.

Which we may consider, lol.

Jenn,

I'm thinking of MPC, as they seem to be the only one who sexes Silkies. (It costs an arm and a leg, but it would be worth it to cut down the chance of getting a roo! For me, that would be heartbreaking!)

Hi Selena,
Another neighbor and I were just talking about visiting Port Orchard.
About the neighbors YOU ARE SO RIGHT! Although I have to admit that it was never a scary situation for me. I got along with the druggies OK and they didn't mess in their own nest. It was kinda funny- When she hooked up with the him she was so proud that he wasn't on meth only on crack. Well and scripts and just about everything else, but not meth. She also had two great kids unfortunately they are growing up way too fast.
The other neighbors(next door to the druggies) are a whole different breed. They hate all animals. They told me that back in the 70's they had 150 chickens in their backyard in a garden shed. When they decided that they were tired of chickens they had their teenage sons go wilding on them. They thought it was funny.

Now it's just the old woman and her youngest son living there together. I could tell some sick stories that they told me.

I don't speak with them anymore. Usuially just yell FREAK when the son comes on my property.
I also work in healthcare, but not as closely to pts as you do. I'm at a local hospital in FMNS, as a mgr. The only time I see what you do is if I'm in the ED or visiting pts. Had a guy try to bite me a couple weeks ago. thankfully he was in restraints.
Rescues- OMG there are so many. Right now I'm feeding 7-8. I never wanted more than a couple cats. LOL! Right now I have 3 inside, 1 feral (Mini), 1 stray (Retro), and Cleo's Blimp. 1 indoor/ outdoor cat (Bug) a stray from a neighbor who decided she liked me more than the outside. And I'm feeding 4 outside Cleo and her fellow refugee Zulu. Another neighbors cat (Pretty Girl) decided she liked soft food and comes and begs. She's old and probably needs softer food. (Her owners said they'd buy me some food) and a new stray that looks like a Holstein cow. He's very friendly, but is terrified of being in the house. Hoping he'll relax enough to move inside. Maybe as it gets colder.
As far as the DSL. I also liked Qwest before I got DSL. Now I have a dedicated line to my Den, My whole house is filtered, I'm on my third modem in 3 months.I have done the reboot at least 1000 times Still it goes down more than it works. Thank the lord it's only for fun. Even the repair people don't know why. I work with a woman who is having the same problem and she only lives 8 blocks away. What really toasts my crackers is the response I get from the tech support. Too long to go into details this late, but they have told me that they "QWEST" don't have the technology to place a telephone call to me. I offered to give them an
old phone of mine, they hung up on me. I've been really excited that its been working this week.

(there was no head scratching one...) oh dang, I want Welsummers so badly... My DH would kill me... Ok, IF I get another job soon, I'll go in for 4 hens and a roo, k? BUT I need to get a full time job. I had enough of my primary job, and so I'm only doing flu clinics for now. I'm applying to veterinary clinics as a Vet Assistant. I figure that treating animals and humans are very similar, but pets don't cuss or try to pick you up.

Besides, if I get on with my lizard's vet, it'll help with the bills! LOL

Man, I worked with a guy who made the mistake of telling a mental patient to "put a fork in it"... and the guy stuck one in the back of his hand. Thank heaven for restraints! LOL.
Actually.. I miss the hospital.

Hey, you ever notice how on full moons the sane folks flip out and the weird folks normalize? Can always tell when a full moon was coming, without even having to look at a calendar.
My house was a foreclosure from a Meth addict, and he painted the basement Barney purple with sea foam trim.

Not yet. Likely by this afternoon down in the valley. So far the backyard isn't even mushy. I can't sleep so I went out to check. The girls run isn't any wetter than normal. Hope it stays that way.
