sorry times are tuff right now! my mom is laid off too (attorney - used to work for city) and struggling to make ends meet i wish we could help her more, but things are tight here, tooooo!
well, take heart - my daughter said the movie was stupid anyway!
My BSL has been squatting for a few days now. The others aren't interested. This BSL is from the same batch as coffeelady3's BSL. Go go BSLs!!
I work for UW and we're doing everything we can to save the UW money... and save jobs. Sitting tight for now. My salary is funded by a federal grant, which is up for review in 2009. I'm praying it's extended.
Coffeelady3: Deer Park is just NW of Spokane. (FMP: Right? I think it's off of the road we take heading to Diamond Lake/Newport.)
Jennspeeps: Congrats! I love my BSL and my GSL little ones are the biggest out of my whole order I got this summer. SL are great!
Turtlechick: Thanks. It does help. I'll just have to hold off until I can get the movie on sale from the store or something as a Previously Viewed movie... then I can watch it on a Chick Flick night when DH is off hunting. Unless I get my license this year and go off with him. We'll see how bad this depression gets. Top everything off, I aggravated a back injury today. On what? Layer pellets! I'm almost at my Ibuprofen limit. I actually did my shopping today... all at the Goodwill and the plant store. I got my DH a "new" sweater, a nice dress shirt, and a couple of movies (including Braveheart. He's a Utilikiltarian, and supposedly a descendant of one of the figures in the movie.) I'm giving others gifts of crab (that we're catching ourselves), baked goods, and the gals are getting a hyacinth bulb in a pretty cup that they can grow on their kitchen window. The bulbs were $.25 a piece and the cups came from the Goodwill. I love the Goodwill. Not only do you find some real steals, you give back while doing so. (green tags were $.99 today and everything else was 40% off!) I had my sis check out for me though, as she works there and was going to do some shopping after she got off anyway. That way I didn't have to wait in the long line since the meds were wearing off by the time I got done. It's bad enough that I meant to go there at 8 am but didn't make it until noon. (Had to let them kick in before I went anywhere at all.)
Anyone have any idea why layer pellets are $2 less than crumble? That doesn't seem to make any sense IMO. I didn't realize crumble was more, but now I'm watching every penny. (Grocery shopping takes ages now, taking the time to compare the base unit prices. LOL. Charmin TP 35.2 cents an inch, MD is $0.12.
i. am. jealous. of. flyingmonkeypoop. (there's a sentence i NEVER could have constructed anywhere outside of byc....) i wish we'd gotten snow on thanksgiving!!! guess it serves us right, living on the mossy side of the mountains, though! if i want white holidays, i better get to packin'...
i hope everyone had a restful holiday!
jennspeeps:
!!! yay !!! didja eat it yet??? congrats, soon you'll never have to buy grocery store eggs again!
selena:
many props for being brave enough to go shopping yesterday (i just can't face it - people get toooooo snarky and ugly, just blows me away!) - and injured and on pain meds! i had to work, but fortunately, i work nowhere near a massive retail area like the mall or a target or anything. the store i work in is more of a small neighborhood retail area - not the destination for the crazydayafterthanksgivingshoppers. it's a good thing you're not giving me anything for xmas - i'm deathly allergic to crab
Okay--I'm leaving Portland at 10am tomorrow morning & going up I-5 and heading east on 512/161/SR 18. The person who was supposed to meet me & pick up his Porcelain d'uccle from me did not return my calls, did not show up to pick up his rooster and while reading emails is not responding. So if anyone is interested, I need to not bring him home with me....make me an offer or I'll consider trades....

I wish, I already have plans for my boys for breeding this spring. The thing that kills me is I'm 5 minutes from Hwy 18 where you'll be passing in Maple Valley.
Got egg #3 today. All have been perfect in size, shape, etc. Good girl, Gwen! We used our last 2 storebought eggs today and I'm hoping that we won't have to buy any more for a long time. I ate egg #1.
If I get enough eggs between now & Christmas, I'll take deviled eggs to Christmas eve. Otherwise I'll figure something else out - maybe a relish tray of all the goodies I pickled this summer?
I'm glad it's not snowing.
I loved in Ellensburg long eough to get a lifetime of snow. The west side of the mtns just isn't cut out for that white stuff.
I had a crazy day yesterday. We went to the horse auction at davenport. I think the high selling horse went for like $700 and it was a well broke trick horse. There was also a shetland x percheron cross, they did AI to get it, it almost looked like a Gypsy Vanner. There were several broke horses going for $150 or so. Then there were 4 or 5 horses that went for $10! Its kinda sad when you can sell laying hens for more than a horse, lol.
Then on the way home we decided to stop at panda express in Spokane and mom locked the keys in the car. We managed to get one window down about a cm so we tried to use the car antena to lift the lock but it didnt work. We were there literally for 2 hours. Finally a lady stopped and offered to help. She said she had AAA and could get the door unlocked for us. Well it turns out that it was one of my moms friends sisters from high school, they hadnt seen eachother since they were teens and they are in their 40's now. My mom asked how much we owed her and she simply said "merry Christmas" and left. We cant find her online or in the phone book or anything, I would love to send her a gift basket or something.
It goes to show that small town people are way better than city folk. There must have been close to 200 cars drive by us in the parking lot, not one of them even slowing down or anything.
turtlechick: The Goodwill is in a little strip mall here. Plenty of escape routes too.
I hate crowds. I haven't been to the fair in years. I start having panic attacks. Goodwill wasn't so bad though. It was, but it wasn't. I'm just glad I don't have anymore places to go. Oh, and there's always venison!
Well I got a call from my folks last night. My Papa is on the line first "The car's a little messed up, but everyone is fine. Here, I'll let Mom tell you about it." (I'm like WHAT?!) She gets on the phone and promptly tells me about the horse she just got for free.
Huh?
She get's all done and I ask if the talk about the wreck was just to scare me. She's like, "Oh, here, I'll let Papa tell you about it."
He gets back on and I tell him, "Hey, all she talked about was the horse, now what's this about an accident?" I guess they lost it on the highway and ended up in oncoming traffic. The Explorer is drivable... but hit on both ends. I don't know if I like them over there. In the 4 years they've been there, they've lost control twice, and have been hit by other cars losing control twice! 4 accidents in 4 years?! (And they want us to inherit the farm? I'm already a klutz on 2 feet... LOL.) Thank God they're safe though... And we had planned to be there this weekend. Oy.
