nivtup...i am so excited that you live in Shelton! I am starting to feel like i was the only one on this side of the Black Hills around. I would be totally into getting some eggs from you at some point. No hurry though, I would just like to get them hatched and outside before the wonderful winter weather hits. Let me know when you have these...you are close enough to come and pick them up..no shipping!!!

Umbrella? I thought all Washingtonians just toughed it out, lol. I hardly ever see people with umbrellas.

You only need your umbrella for the dark side of WA(west side).Washington is like 2 separate states it is so different.

Ok, I just have to say......I'VE GOT 3 SWIMMERS!!!!!! *does the swimming egg dance*

For those that don't know, I'm very new to chickens (well, since I was 8). I've had chickens now for all of 7 weeks and I'm on day 8 of trying to hatch eggs, lol. I jumped in feet first. My first batch are eggs that got left out in below freezing temps, and it's only a dozen. AND I'VE GOT 3 SWIMMERS!!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I'm happy? Sadly I've also got one that I think is a blood ring, but being it's my first time, it gets to stay for now. Will that hurt anything to leave a blood ring in?

Hi...I'm new to the forum and to backyard chickens. We've had our 6 hens for about a month & love them! They've been a lot of fun.

A quick question...Does anyone know if there's a source for organic chicken feed in Pierce County, WA?

Thanks,

Teri

terrilacy Welcome to Washington! What spurred the move?
You won't have to worry about the rain as much over there. Not like over here where we get more rain.

We were getting rain and now are getting snow! Again! It is sticking on some parts of my yard and not others :?
