I think it is the year of the Roo!

Iron... man that bug looks like a lot of fun. I remember hitting Sandlake with the quads when I was younger. I sold my Banshee to pay for my first year of college. It was a worthy tradeoff. I'd love to see some of your windchimes... my favorite set is a plain jane set of bamboo chimes - we go for sound around here, not fancy stuff.

Seriously! The best stuff is from hobbyists anyhow! And garden signs? Sounds great. I make little ones for my garden out of lathe and square leftover pieces from whatever we're working on. They are just plain painted things with cute little sayings on it. My squash garden sign is so uninspiring it really just says 'Squash'.

I bet your metal ones are great. When you post pics of your chimes, be sure to include what your asking for selling them! We might like a set. I'll look for your bell at Rons. My hubby saw it today when he made a frantic 5:45pm run to get scratch, but I wasn't with him.

He loved it.

Brownlikewoah... what a gorgeous EE roo! The silkies are cute too but I really love the EE. If you don't find a good home for him, let me know. Once our coup is done, we might be able to accommodate one more. I have a hen right now that I'm trying to decide if shes a roo or not (her comb just turned bright red while everyone else's stayed nice and pink.. .and shes bigger, more upright, and has huge tailfeathers compared to the others). If she turns out to be a HER and not a HIM, I'll maybe want an EE roo. Our chickies are our pets.

You don't need a RIR roo do you? Or anyone else for that matter? I have a spare one.

If someone is in need of a Roo please let me know, I will be getting rid of three of them. They are all four months old and eating pellets. I'll take some pics when the sun comes out

Hi,
Ive live in Enumclaw for 9 years now and our coop isnt insulated, it is under two wonder trees so that helps, and if it gets really cold like this past winter with all the snow we put a heat light in just to take a little chill off.

Our coup, which is in the process of being built, is going to be insulated. However, I think its going to be insulated AFTER the chickies move in. Our RIRs are getting too big for the 'teenage brooder' and my EEs are outgrowing the indoor brooder so something has to give soon. I'm sitting here thinking about all the snow and cold weather we had here last year. It was a mess. I have pics of about 25 inches of snow on my picnic table, so I think insulation is necessary. But like everyone else, we're on a budget, so that budget allows for insulation and new inside walls for the coup closer to winter!

The way we are going to do it is that we are remodeling an old wooden barn that fell down last winter. We salvaged the wood (there was a lot of it) and are making two different structures... one is a 10X15 chicken coup, the second is identcal in size but will be a mini donkey barn. We're almost done with the coup side (these are side by side) ... eventually the covered fenced contained runs will be around fifty feet long, but in the mean time we're going to have just a small section under the eves wired in. That way we can move the chickens in, and finish at our leisure this summer.

I'll post progress pictures as it gets closer to getting done. It really really needs a fresh coat of nice barn red paint too.

It seems if your insulating a pre-made, it wouldn't be hard to roll out the pink stuff, then get OSB board and finish the inside with it.... just like you do a normal house. Roll and stable on the pink stuff, and then cover with the OSB. You'll need a circular saw or a table saw, but it shouldn't be too difficult!

Also, if your eco friendly, they make insulation out of say ground up cotton blue jeans and material like that. You can also use foam insulation sheets... its a little easier to work with... cuts with a hot knife! Anything you use really would work well, just make sure your chickies can't get to whatever it is you decide to use.

OK here ya go folks. This is the one that I sold to a local feed store. Note that I will not make anymore that are cut at an angle. They are just too hard to do. Sorry I don't have measurements but to give ya a little perspective that is a 6X6 post it is hanging on. I made the whole thing, bell, ringer and hanging bracket. I sold this set for $75. I have the material to make bigger ones and if/ when I can get tanks I also make smaller too. I also have lots of 19" and 28" saw blades and double sided band saw sections.

I have three 8 week old Buff Orps and I have a serious case of chicken fever. There might be a few bantam brahmas in my future.
