Not jumping on ya just trying to help since it looks like you are new. I think you meant congrats to "unemployed chicken". Just hatched is that persons status ( or age on the board ). If ya already knew that please disreguard. If not maybe it will help you. The first thing Normally in blue is their screen name then under that gives ya an idea of how long ( how many posts ) on the board.

I played "Dunk the Chicken" last night:

Some liked it, like Beaker, the splash Polish.
Some tolerated it, like Dozer, the BR. Check out the stink eye.
Some hated it. HATED it. There are no pictures of the total freak-outs nor of the "walk on water like Jesus" impressions.

Yep, my little "chicken handle" is Unemployed Chicken... Some of you have probably heard of my former employer of 11 years... Washington Mutual. So... Have time for chickens now - LOL, been on here for a few months. Thanks for congrats justbugged - you are not far from me, I'm close to Black Diamond and go to Enumclaw for everything because it's so much more layed back of a drive!!! Enumclaw if beautiful... Frequenting Del's lately.... Good lucke with the HEAT!!!

I think we are all suffering in the heat! I love the ideas for cooling off chickens.

I turned the hose on my chickens yesterday (gently) , and my hubby had the sprinkler on them most of the evening. They couldn't be bothered to move out of the way of the chilly well water after they figured out it cooled them off. Wet chickens are funny chickens (and happy!).

But lordy, this heat is killing me. I work OUTSIDE for eight hours on hot cement managing a big DC where I live - and my vehicle has no AC! UGH! I didn't think it was possible to be as hot as I've been in the last two days. I resorted to taking a huge bucket of ice water to work, and dunking a bandanna in it repeatedly to wrap around my neck to keep me cool. I'd be at one end of the building, dump some water over my head and drive to the other end of the building, and be totally dry (and hot again) by the time I got to the other side. very RIDICULOUS! *whines more* Then my lovely boss said.... "If you think you're hot, try sleeping in a house with no AC!" .... I just looked at him. Duh! I'd much rather be in a house out of the sun trying to SLEEP in the SWELTERING HOT WEATHER than driving around in the direct sun where my thermostat was reading 122 between the truck engine and the cement oven I was on. I have no idea how I'm going to make it until friday.

Okay rant over.

Where's our beautiful rain?

I know what ya mean Jenn. I have actually given a little thought to filling one of the spare stock tanks for "people and doggie cooling". But it was a short thought since I am not a shorts type and if I jumped in with my riggin breaches on I wouldn't be able to move with em wet. I am busy trying to keep the chickens, wife and doggie cool while still trying to get things unpacked from our trip. Unload, cool everybody, take a few minutes in the shade and do it again seems like it never ends.

U E chicken I wasn't commenting on yer name just looked like Just Bugged may have been a little mixed up.

I'm pretty new here - first post on the WA board

I'm in the valley in Sumner right below the top of Ehli Hill. We get weirder weather than in town or on the hill, since it wraps around us on 2 sides. It will be either hotter or colder, never predictable of course!

So the hot weather tips have been awesome. Not sure how my chickies (16 week EEs & RIRs) would like being dunked, but I will probably put a kiddy pool in there tonight. We are leaving tomorrow for a few days, but my Dad will be over to check on them everyday.

Love the forums here & seeing everyone's coops & ideas. Very helpful for newbies!!

My fiance called 103.7, The Mountain this morning because they were taking ice cream to a few different places around town to people working without ice cream. They brought my building ice cream, much to the delight of my coworkers.

I WANT ICE CREAM !!!! Does the mountain deliver out in the stix ???
I really have no idea where 103.7 is but doubt they are near me in Ethel. Guess I will have to make my own ice cream. Little milk, ice, eggs and vinilla in the blender O YEAH !!!! maybe I will go steal some of the neighbors raz berries. I know they won't catch me they are in where it is cool and cant' see from there.
