Too funny. I am like that too. I get so excited when the egg basket has the whole rainbow of egg colors....... except white of course. I am actually thinking of having a white egg layer at some point, just to offset the chocolate color eggs from some of the dark egg layers that I will be adding in soon. Maybe this summer. I may want to rehome a black australorp this summer if they don't start paying their rent on the coop.

Well day fore yester we got 12 browns, 1 buttercup, and 1 OEGB. Day yester we got 11 browns. Today we got 11 brown, 1 buttercup, and 1 OEGB. Side note now that I have talked DN into a hanging feeder with free choice feed and we put the 3:00 am -noon light in her coop along with all day free range. She finally got 12/24 today. And she had the nerve to accuse Chicken Rustler of "planting eggs" in her coop.

I am quite happy with how our girls are paying thier way. Right now it takes them about 11 days to pay for what they will eat in 20 days (2 50# bags). We have 2 full bags and money for 2 more. This is nice that in the slow time they are gaining a little $$.

that made me laugh.

Regarding Mike and feed. It must have got missed, but I had asked if anyone had talked to him recently. Has anyone? Kim? Russ? Anyone Else?

I can get him two bags on Friday, I just wanted to know what he's up to.

I'll also need the info again.

I love Raintree nursery for my trees. DH is planning yet another foray down there. I belive he's going to pick up filberts and peaches this time, along with some more blueberries. I have been realy impressed with the quality of the stock we have gotten from them.

We sell our extra eggs to our friends for $2.00 a dozen. I believe the going rate around here is about $3.00. The way I figure it is that they are friends and they give us cartons. The money goes into the incubator fund.

I give a dozen to my landlord every other week since it is their barn that my coop is in and they pay for our water. Then I give a dozen to the lady next door she is a single mom with two kids and NO child support coming in.. I have a couple of friends that give me $2.00per dozen. don't like to make money off my FRIENDS. I don't have enough to sell to strangers LOL.
But the going price around here is $3.00 per doz. some as high as $4.00
Well I didn't get that seventh and last egg for today. But thats ok, I;m very happy with my girls. Chickens that is

I am so happy, I have 16 hens so not sure which are the hold outs, although I know that I have an americauna that is hiding her nest. I have tried to descreetly follow her but she always catches me and won't give up the location of the stash! I think she may be sharing with the racoons. Setting up my brooding house for the new chicks...cant wait to finally order them. I am looking at adding 15 new chicks....May need to think about an addition to the coop

Before long the coop will be bigger than the house.Thank Goodness tha tax return is on its way. Is there a cure for this additction. Maybe a Chickens Anonymous?

Not sure how many I got, I haven't been home yet, left at 5 this morning, worked till 4, class till 7, and now a dead battery in the parking lot.

I sell my extra chicken eggs for $3/dz and $4/dz for duck eggs. I have no problem getting rid of them at that rate and have folks coming from quite a distance to get them. There is one guy that told me he would pay that for 5 dozen/week. He sells his eggs to various Farmer's Markets. I know the main stores like Safeway sell their "Cage Free" and/or "Free Ranging" Brown eggs for around $5/dz and they ain't no where nears as fresh as what folks get from me. Usually my eggs are no more than a few days old when they're picked up.

Speaking of picking up eggs, I was out yesterday around Noon and heard an egg song on the other side of the fence down toward where the pond drains out. Sure enough, there was a BR pullet and a bunch of eggs near her. The little potlicker had 13 eggs there. Didn't see any today but I'll have to keep an eye out for more. Hopefully she'll brighten up a bit and start using the nesting boxes!

God Bless,
