Hi all! I am so glad I came on and looked at the posts today. I had no idea that there was a show tomorrow in Monroe! I can't wait to go. I have never been and I am getting more and more excited about getting my chicks in May! I hope to see what my chicks will look like when they grow up!!
I have never met any of you and hope to get to know some new friends!!!

Melody!! If you haven't planned your coop yet be sure to look at all the coop pages! Tons of ideas there! My DH is going to work on mine this weekend so hopefully I won't be coopless too much longer. I have 8 baby chicks in my house so I think the DH is motivated to git'er dun so they can move out.

Thanks NWChicks for the heads up. I will check it out. Having it planned and getting it built are 2 different things around here. I have had my coop
planned for EVER! LOL. It will get done before my babies get here even if I have to do it myself. hehehe.

Hello Washingtonians!

Does anyone have any fertile eggs available in the Western Washington area? I am looking to get some around the 2nd week of May. Any chicken breed is welcome and I would LOVE to have a variety.

Not as much as when hatching your own eggs, but quite close. Curious, are these real Araucanas or did you get them at a feedstore? Either way, I always ike seeing people's Araucanas or Easter Eggers.

By tomorrow, perhaps midday or something, I should expect pips. . . I'm so excited. I hope ALL my Marans make it. My Ameraucanas too of course, but especially my Marans.

I don't know if they are pure Araucanas as I did get them at the feed store. But that is what they said they were. How can you tell? I've been staring at me new chicks all morning and loving every minute of it. Good luck with your new peeps.

Hi everyone,

I'm hiding out from the IT police here at work.

Rumor has it the Reber Ranch is getting a bunch of ducklings today. A coworker mentioned it at lunch. Apparently Privett Hatchery has an overabundance. She didn't know what kind, but since several of you were looking I thought I'd post.

Russ- good luck if you are interested.

- Sorry, they're not real Araucanas then. I'm thinking that your feedstore got them from Murray McMurray hatchery. Hatcheries and feedstores often claim to sell Araucanas or Ameraucanas, but they're a crossbreed called Easter Eggers. Chances are your chicks will still lay green, blue, or brown eggs though. To tell the difference, besides where you got it from, an Araucana should not have a tail and should have tufts from its ears, but no beard. Also it should not look like a chipmunk as a chick.

Oh, and as a little note on my eggs, I have my first hatcher!!! It is a black Ameraucana, and has been waiting for its buddies to hatch now for a little over an hour. I'm so excited and proud!

We have fertile Easter Egger x Brahma, Easter Egger x Polish, and Easter Egger x Silver Laced Wyandotte eggs. They're all crossbreeds in the end of course, but if you get the whole assortment, your chicks should end up laying olive green, minty green, and brown eggs.

Otherwise, we'll have purebred fertile eggs available in October. ( Marans, Ameraucanas, Olive Eggers, and Araucanas )

They won't any be purebred. I have a Wyandotte rooster and an EE rooster. Then I have hens: rhode island reds, orpington, EE, gold sex link, wyandottes and an australorp. You could get whatever mix they make.

I'm in Mossyrock (East of Chehalis).
