i got someone who is interested in buying 2 chicks from my may 9th ish hatch. what should be a reasonable price? they are going to be very interesting cross breeds. they should have good laying potential.

my goal is to improve the laying of ee or ameracuanas.... (green and blue layers) because the ones i have lay every other day and are a year old.... my RIR lay more often than them....

should i let the guy name his price? he is a nice guy, that i know as the chef here at wenatchee valley college. he understands local economies. so what $2 a chick? i told him if one turns out to be a roo i will swap him (since i do not know how to sex chicks)

My hubbies co-worker found a chicken in her yard and couldn't find the owner, so hubby brought it home. He said it is his chicken!

He named her run-around Sue. I have no idea what kind she is, she is brownish with very yellow legs. I noticed a few black spots on her feathers near her neck.

Hello all, Just signed up today. I'm up above Spokane, around Deer Park. I started last spring with a few chicks, now I'm waiting for my first batch of eggs to hatch. I raise chickens mostly for the eggs and for entertainment.

Ya better stay clear of Weaveagarden or you"ll end up in court

Heres the story. Weaveagarden and the doctor were having an affair
duc.gif
. after a couple of months, the doctor decided to move in with weavy
fl.gif
. They bought a very expensive little flock together
clap.gif
. After only three months of living together weaveagarden kicked the doctor out
smack.gif
and had a restraining order against the Doc so he couldn't come on her property. So the Doctor took her to court to get half of the flock
tongue2.gif
But now weaveagarden is trying to sell the WHOLE flock so the doc don't get any of them....
he.gif
how many would you like to buy????

Ok, Ok, thats NOT the REAL story

Here's the real story. Weaveagarden (cindy) lives in Hoquiam. she had a nice little flock and a rooster. Well after she had her chickens the city of Hoquiam made a NEW law that you could only have a certain number of hens and NO rooster. Cindys neighbor complained and the city came out and fined her $103.00 for having too many hens ( 4 too many) and a rooster. The Doctor wrote a letter saying the chickens were good Therapy for her and that she should be able to keep them. Well her hearing was yesterday and she LOST

Cindy (weaveagarden) is one of the oldtimers on here (like me & Chicken rustler) She had to go out of state a while back and take care of her sisters place. thats why she hasn't been on her. Shes a good kid, we like to throw mud back and forth
hugs.gif
. The ONLY BAD thing about her is she doesn't like WHITE eggs

Hey weave, its nice to have ya back Iam sorry court didn't rule in your favor . Kim and the others are RIGHT, I think you need to keep as many of your flock as you can. you might be sorry if ya don't

>>>>>Question: Do you centrifuge and bottle your own honey, or have someone else jar it up for you ?
If you are going to sell it, I would want to buy some honey, and about 4 quart mason jars of raw honey with a hunk of clean comb in it.
My old folks love the comb, it is one of the few candies they had when they were children.
My aunt Rita grew up in Texas has told me many tales of her and her Daddy working the hives and having 'chewing gum' which was honey comb as a treat on the ranch.<<<<<<<<

Chickielady-- we have yet to actually harvest honey from the hive, it is very newly established and we set it up rather later in the summer last year.. so left everything alone for the bees to settle in and make it thru the winter. Which is good--when my husband opened the hive on Sunday, they had no food so we had to add some honey filled frames for them. We are learning from our 97 year old bee keeping friend as we go along...

He has an extractor.. so I would imagine we will be learning to do all the bottling ourselves -- I also think we will have more than we could possibly use--with two hives now, so I will keep you guys posted ok?

Hi there!
I'm in the Seattle area, with three 5-week old chicks. i'm wondering when i should be able to let the girls outside in their coop permanently. they're getting almost too big for their brooder, but the weather is still below 50 degrees at night. we purchased an Omlet Eglu coop for them, and it doesn't look like we can hang a heat lamp in there. well i guess we could duct tape it to the ceiling of the inside of the coop but i'd rather not. is it actually too soon for them to go outside? just wanted to know what other Western Washingtonians are doing as far as when you are putting your chicks out.
Thanks!!
Tmac

to all the Newbies!!!

Tmac, I'm not too familiar with the Eglu, is it all enclosed? I just put my 7 wk olds out last weekend, but they are in a fully enclosed coop. I kept them inside today with all this nasty rain. But they were out in the run Sun-Yesterday.

Ok BYCers I am all over the place today so bear with me!

1) I took the afternoon off to go pick up my runner ducklings from a feed store that ordered them for me back in Feb. I had talked to the lady yesterday and she said "yes they are on a confirmed shipping for the 19th and delivery for the 21st" I called today and she said "they should be here somewhere around 11-12" WOOHOO! I was stupid crazy excited!'

2) No show!

3) I called 2 different post offices to see where my babies were and they did not have anything for the feed store!

4) Called the feed store back and she called the hatchery to find out what is going on. We are now waiting for the hatchery lady to get back to us!!!! That was at 1:30! I am going mental!!! '

SO, when they do FINALLY come Im assuming that I will need to put some vitamins in their water to help give them a boost. What is the best stuff?

AND- I can not find brewers yeast powder! I have the Purina flock raiser which has 20% protein but I did not see any niacin in it. Am I way off?

I don't know whether I want to cry or scream!!!'
