I was just looking at their ad they posted on Craigslist, as I have all my California Rabbits, hutches, etc to sell...I may go out there this weekend and take a look.
It is a pain to haul heavy hutches out there, but may take the rabbits, in dog crates, and my wire cages out there this Saturday.
The guy running Elma feed likes the auction and has told me he has taken chicks there that have not sold.
Are you thinking of driving all the way from Ellensburg ???
Long drive.
There is supposed to be a Farmer's Market in Monroe I believe ?
There is one in Chehalis, too, and I think there is one in Olympia now, too.

I might make the drive

I have a friend down in Grays Harbor that has been dying to visit with her kids and she has a bumm vehicle. So if she's going to stay for long enough to make the drive worth it, I might just do it! Plus I'm too impulsive to let it pass by now that I know about it...lol. What city are you in? Maybe I can help you load?

Oh come on! You've got Twilight tourists! LMAO. I grew up in Virginia and I still have a VERY close friend over that way. She has never been on an airplane because she is terrified, and so has never visited me here in Washington. BUT now she's ready to make a summer trip out to see me by plane - IF I take her to Forks to oogle at the town. I keep telling her - it's a small rainy town....I'm sure it's wonderful but it's not like she's going to find a big museum....and still she's convinced it will be the highlight of her trip

ah but i live on the east side of the mountains.... so there is no rain here. it was just late at night and i was procrastinating doing my hw.

so this morning was crazy

i ended up not having to go to college classes as early since the building that 2 of my classes in had a severe power outage (still no power)

well as i am getting dressed to go to class i notice something funny on my leg
tried to brush it off..... still then

then, to my horror, i realized i had a member of the arachnid family stuck to me!!!!!!

i had a tick!... i have never had one before.... so i start freaking out. by bf comes upstairs to see why i am in a panic.... and i show him.... so he grabs a lighter and brings me into the kitchen where the tile is. (so it can drop on the floor and find it easily)

well dad comes in and watches as john takes a lighter to my leg.,..... it started to work! it hurt i felt the stupid bug's tongue as it tried to get off.... but then my leg started burning....

so dad gave him a lit match.... it started working again..... but then john cooked the tick......

so he tried to gently pull it off but it was still stuck on.

dad went and got tweezers and pulled it off. it came clean off.

there was no blood. i pinched my skin to try to bring blood to the surface to clean the area...

it was a skinny tick. so it must have just dug in shortly before i found it......

so after class today i went looking at all the feed stores looking for guina hens.... no one sells them... Big R did but sold out and they are not getting any more....

so i got flea and tick collars and drops for all the dogs.
i'm paranoid. i hate spiders but i now hate ticks the most. we have never had ticks around our home before....

so my day was interesting....is there anyone traveling over the mountains any time soon? (to wenatchee area or leavenworth?) want to pick up 3 guina chicks for me??? i pay.

Man that is my worst nightmare, picked several off my son's neck years ago...anyway, nlove_3000 is maybe coming over to the auction in Oakville.
sickbyc.gif

I am going to look for some guineas at the auction.
I just saw some eggs for sale on Craigslist hatching guinea eggs, that would be fun ?
And a legitimate need for the hatchlings too !
A bonifide excuse to get more eggs !

To nlove_3000, thanks for the offer of help but I have DH here and he can help.
The baddest part of going to the auction is getting all the loading done and be there so early in the morning.
My DH is an 8 o:clock kinda guy, he says, but we can get alot loaded the night before.
I want to just concrentrate on my birds, and not have the rabbits anymore.
I love them but I have too much going on right now. Let me know further into the week if you are going to the auction, maybe we can say hi !
frow.gif

And Illia, since you have absolutely nothing to do (ha ha ha) out there in Forks all alone (sniff!)
hit.gif
maybe you can organize an auction out there once a month or so, do not have to talk fast
lau.gif
, maybe you can have one of the camofarms auctioneers come out there ?
Do you have a barn large enough to host an auction or maybe a fairgrounds building ?
Then we could all drive out there !

Well, . . . We've got just the places for an auction, but noone out here has chickens or would want them, and I highly doubt you people who live 2-6 hours away would want to come all the way down to Forks here for an auctionin which only the outsiders would have something for.
tongue.png
I guess I'd just have to stick with being the one to drive for hours to do something like that.

'Tis raining now. . . . I feel so non-productive, sitting here on the forums.

I could be planting, or cleaning the coop, or something. . . But it's raining and not very warm.

ooohhh TICKS ooooo groooosss! I grew up in EW.. I hate ticks!! blood sucking spiders...

the cookie thing made me LOL..

It IS gross and rainy today.. bleh. But I am at work, which is a good place to be when it's nasty outside.

Hafta feed the flock somehow! haha!

BUT THIS IS TOTALLY EGGCITING news... I have Call Babies HATCHING!! I want to go home NOW! I can't wait to see them. There were 3 this morning when I left..

I am now toying with the idea of hatching guineas.
The tick thing you know, has ignited the old 'I want guineas thing'
A few years ago DH and I were washing the car in our driveway and down the street came this awful bizarre racket !
Everyone came out of their homes to see what the heck ???
Guinea hens, and a few boys too, buckwheatin' and cackling and chirping down the street and around the corner.
We stood in awe, soap dripping, hose running...
I want some of those !
I also have the perfect dog, my old lab Sam, now 17 and full of cancer, she lives in the big paddock with the chickens, she will have to be put down soon...so guineas will help alert to predators.
Eventually I have to get another dog.
But I also know they can fly away, and do not always come in to roost, making them vulnerable to prey, and the elements.
I will hafta go on the guinea thread and read up.
