Thank you. I'm thinking I probably shouldn't have posted on here because every time i read a response it starts my eyes leaking again!

It does help to be able to tell people who understand though.

(((((NWchicks))))) So sorry about your hen. We lost one last week, so I know what it's like.

i am using an led flash light and i am around day 21 for some eggs day 20 for others... and when i put the light against all i get is dark. .. .. is my light not strong enough?

It might not be strong enough. My DH and DD built a candler. They put a lamp doo-hicky on a piece of plywood, we screw in a regular light bulb and plug it in. Then we put a clay plant pot over it, and the plant pot has a 1" hole in the bottom for drainage that the light shines through. Another thought, when they are close to hatching, and are really full, you have to put the light at the air sac end to see anything at all when looking for movement, and even then you might not see any.

We hatched baby number 3 this morning (DAY 24)!!!!! It zipped overnight and just hatched moments ago. We also just found a pip in a LF cochin egg!!! Really hoping and praying that one makes it!!! So far we have one golden cuckoo maran (I think it's a pullet, you can sex them at hatch due to coloring) and two golden cuckoo/BC maran mixes. The first one is also a pullet, #3 is still too wet to really see it's coloring. My LF cochins came from a blue pen, so hoping for either splash or blue, male or female. We already have one LF black pullet from our last hatch. Please send zipping vibes to that one!!!!

So.....I have been given the "ok" by my husband to add 3 chicks/hens to our flock....but only 3...lol. So this leaves me unable to order from hatchery and I'd love to get better quality birds anyway. I noticed a lot of you on here have birds you're looking to sell or rehome. Can you refresh my memory? I'd love to purchase from a trustable resource

NWChicks, so sorry about your girl. I just picked up my babies this morning from the Post Office. They are so darned cute. So far so good, they all look healthy. The one "rare breed" I got looks like a white polish. it's little top knot is too cute. You can really tell him apart from the rest.

Have a wonderful day. Hope the rest of you day is all good.

Who did you order from? As soon as my two new coops are done I would love to add more babies

Chickaholic has made an addict out of me when she reminds me how much room I have and that "1" more would be ok

Well, I'm not all that close to you, but I have a lot of chicks right now. I have a couple other people who are also buying some girls from me soon and I'm raising about 25 layers for someone else. I'm over in Mossyrock. You'd have to go down to Yakima and across the mountains that way to get to where I am. I have mostly 2-month old chicks, but also have some younger ones that my broody hatched and cared for. I don't know the males from the females yet with those, though. I have 4 eggs hopefully hatching this coming weekend, also from a broody.

PM me and let me know if you are interested.

Sorry this has taken me so long to get back on line but I have been OUTSIDE !
I actually am TAN !!!!
I have finished the #2 henhouse, built the brooder, have the 3 day old BSM in it, opened the brooder/incubator in the house to the cuckoo eggs on their 16th day and are locked down, and the turkey and guinea eggs are in the other incubator...it is a hatching factory assembly-line.
I have spent the last few days on the garden, and DH has his pole barn going really good, rafters on...
Jessica, I will PM you what I have.
I have 10 pages to read now !

My son is doing a little better now he has heart burn Poor kid..

Glad he's doing better. Stomach problems can be so hard to deal with. My son had H. Pylori a couple months back and missed quite a few days of school from it. It was hard to hear him crying and not be able to do much to help
