Welcome Janel & Mzowl!

While I don't have the affinity you do for the country, some peace & quiet from the city always sounds good. My husband & I are both from big cities (Oakland & Minneapolis, respectively) and wouldn't know what to do if we weren't 'city-folk'. Haha!

all the new WA peeps! BYC is very addicting!

I have just spent 2 days catching up on about 40 pages on here! I haven't had much time to go on line lately cause my DH is staying home and I have been working again. I am sooo ready to be back home full time with my kids and all my chooks.

We had a big BBQ for the 4Th and my friend spent way to much at Boom City but it was so worth it! I spent like 4 days sun up to sun down getting our house clean, I am so glad it is all over now

Ron so sorry to hear about your bull, so sad.

I got some polish from nyrial and her DH flock and they are the sweetest chickens I could ever ask for. I also got some button quail and a big cage form them. THANK YOU!!!

Did someone say they were gonna have runners hatch in a little while? I would love some more runners I have 2 that I got from the feed store this spring they are the cutest!

I just had my DH take 4 of my roosters to Monroe farm and feed so that leaves 2 left from the 8 I ended up with out of 11 chicks in January. The 3 hens from those chicks have started to lay as of last week and 1 has decided to go broody all ready! So I gave her some eggs to sit on. She is so cute not pecking at us, but puffing up and grumbling at us if we get close. Very cute!

One last thing to the snohomish peeps, I have a sick bunny and have no money to take him to the vet is there a place I can take him that he will get medical attention he needs and then be rehomed when he is well? He has an absces on his back and it is looking pretty bad.

that is a cute hen.

today we had two black copper marans chicks hatch out of my test eggs (3 total) of our new roo and hens we got this spring from cree. the babies are unexpected as I put the eggs under what might be the most delinquent mother hen on the planet. She would forget she had eggs for an hour or two then sit on them again for days. Obviously she knew more than I did though it took an extra week to hatch them that way.

Welcome everyone, this is a great group of people..

Im busy getting ready for the Wedding went today and started tanning. I know bad for the skin and dont have a lot of time oh well..

I have not wanted to tell anyone but Im putting my moms dog down tomorrow at 4:30 so please keep me (us) in your thoughts. Last year I asked her to please stay with me until Christmas was over and she did, on Sat I think she had a stroke or something so she doesnt walk well now and she's looking at me like she knows its time and I just need to let her rest. So with my husband by myside I will do this. Its killing me inside it is like my mom passing away again all over... Yes I know its not the same but this is how I feel, I just really wish it want this week..

I've cried like a baby over every chicken we've lost and surely this is much more difficult. I remember when my dad's cat passed away several months after losing my dad and it was like the wound being reopened. Glad you won't be alone and you're in my prayers.

aw sorry zgoatlady! that will be rough - but you're doing the right thing and now she can go and play with your mom!

hopefully things brighten up with the wedding coming... i don't know the details (been a serious delinquent from byc for awhile now) - but weddings are always joyful occasions!

Hi there,
thought I would stop in and say hi. I'm new to this, have three sweet chicks (almost a month old now), trying to build a coop and run myself. I am pretty much an urban homesteader- trying to grow as much as our food as possible on our little bit of city land. I would love to have some chicken friends!
Oh, I live in Seattle.

I know there are a few people who live in Seattle too, then there are a bunch of us all over the rest of the state.

Cheri I am so sorry. I remember when my grandma's dog had to be put down. She had emphysema from sitting in the same room as my grandma, while my grandma smoked. About 4 months after my grandma died of cancer, Penny couldn't hardly breath anymore, and we had to beg my mom to let her go. Finally my mom let her go, but it was like she hadn't grieved for her mom until Penny died. It good to have the distraction of the wedding, but it's okay to grieve also.

Welcome Golden Fawn. If you have questions feel free to ask. We are very good at feeding chicken addictions here.
