Hey all,

So I'm about 30 pages behind, and don't really have the energy to read them all, so other than the last few pages of troubles (Sad to hear

) I hope everyone is well. Made the move to Clinton last weekend, and loving every bit about the island that I've seen. The girls came home last night as well, running on 7-11 right now!

So yeah, I'm alive. That's all.. I'll try to catch up on stuff once my internet finally starts working right at the house, must call comcast..

Better than the phone company though! Have to go in and fill out an application. Seriously? Really? No, that's okay.. I have good cell coverage.

Oh my gosh, Im so sorry Jessica Rabbit, Ive never had that happen and dont want it too.

Yesterday was a hard day, but the vet said it was time also..

So went with my son and his bride to be and my other son and husband to get the tux's for wedding. Oh had to cry for that one too. LOL It was a good way to end the day on a happy note.

When we got home my husband said come here, and I have a Black Copper Marans on 10 eggs out side of her area in gravel. We think its the same one who did this in the slight snow we had last winter in the gravel.. The poor girl it was so hot but she looked to be fine she picked a place my my garage and a door next to the garage.. So will have to wait till like Sunday and move her. Im guess we are going to try and leave her and the chicks together.. So life goes on..

Of course your horse would think your nuts! But if your a horse person, like me, I think we all are a little nuts.

I ride hunter/jumper, but I want to try dressage in the near future. Maybe you would let me come out and watch you one day?

I have a lesson at 4 today and tomorrow, how is that for nuts? I try to embrace it.

Yeah.. Dressage > all

Teresa,

Thank you! We knew that having Bassets and adding poultry to the mix would be an adventure. Thankfully, Flash (the tri-color) is an Artesian Normand Basset Hound and has zero predatory drive so we knew he wouldn't be an issue. The real problem was Doodle - because once he's excited it's like he goes deaf! We did a lot of training but the best was provided when we adopted two bossy Rhodies! Frankly, they took one look at our dogs and stuck their beaks in the air. At this point, the Rhodies eat their fill out of the dogs feeding bowls before they let the dogs eat out of them!

Holy Cow ! That is just awful !
Eveyone of the birds dead ???
Did your dogs bark or hear anything ?
Did you put the pointy wire along the top of the pen like Greg showed ?
It is cheaper than entire chicken wire but takes time and can hurt the hands after a while.

Actually no, I didn't. What exactly are you refering to? I will give almost anything a try at this point, I have a few weeks before my other pheasant will be ready to go outside so I have the time

On a happier note: I have three pips this morning from the Marans eggs I got from Madelynbelle YAY!

Jess, seriously consider the cut wire around the top of your pens.
How did a racoon get them at night ?
Are they not locked up at night in some fashion ?
Guess not being pheasants...
Dad has these lean to things he built and put in the pens that they can shelter in, and tree branches built in for them to roost up high if they choose to.
But he has dogs running around to scare off coyotes and coons, too.
I have been so busy outside I have fallen behind on all that is going on.

Went sturgeon fishing and caught crabs !!!

Next time we take the big boat out in the bay and 2 crab pots !!!
Kings are coming in !!!
I want a couple !!!

DH is on a trip to CA to retreive the big boat and attend a wedding I had to stay here so will be on line at least once a day.
We have seen 2 big coons on our wildlife camera we stake out in the yard...the coons run the perimeter fence but do not climb it...it has the Greg Richardson cut wire on the top and wrapped all around the posts so anything climbing will give up or get seriously cut up before it makes it to the top of the wire.
Maybe Greg will post a photo of his fence again.
Later space fans~~
