I have looked at Ameraucana but would rather have true Araucana. I've heard Ameraucana's can be more aggressive then Araucana's. I have 2 pygmy goats who are scared to death of the current chickens... so much so that we have named them Fright ( the flighty leghorn hen) and Terror (the buff orpington roo) So I need really calm, friendly, easily handled, bears confinement well and quiet breed so my neighbors continue to not care if I have chickens. (I live in a great neighborhood that tries to work together rather then ignore each other.) Our other requirements were that the breed was not a mass produced breed, but a old heritage breed (read hard to get) so we could help preserve a breed as well as be able to provide others with hatching eggs and or chicks. My mom loves to incubate eggs and help the chicks grow so in a way hatching and raising chicks from a small flock would be perfect.

Btw the leghorn and buff orpington roo (who was supposed to be a hen) were given to me as the owner could not keep them and well i really like eggs to eat. But they will not be part of my permanent flock since I would like to keep a pure single breed flock.
So if anyone is looking for a good looking Buff Orpington Roo send me a message

OK space fans...I painted some more on it today...this will do no good unless you line all of them up and see the "age' progression.
Where is everyone ?
Is it date night all over the state ?
Well, it was here last night, and maybe tonight as well, great dinner, awesome dessert, no see northern lights as we have marine fog and salty air that drifts in at dinner time...later~
I do not like my new avatar !

If anyone's interested, I have a VERY sweet & VERY great-looking Golden Laced Cochin cockerel for sale. He's got EXCELLENT foot feathering and good pattern. I just don't need another boy.

I can deliver him to Portland or somewhere along the way a week from tomorrow.

Other than that--how is everyone doing? I'm glad it's Friday tomorrow although I'm getting up at 5am on Saturday to help load 12 tons of hay!

How exciting! My red hen's comb and waddles are getting bigger and redder. No one else's have developed yet. Roz is always the first do do anything. It's just like her to be the first to lay.

DD and SiL went to go see the lights. I got a call about 11:30 asking where the camp sites were. About then I went oops!!!! I haven't been there in years. Now I get to thinking about the lake level. Uf dah! This morning they called and said that they made it and there were no lights.

The small dog is cranky, and DSiL found another crow that needs help. The mom can only think that I made some just like me.
