Well Becky has been put totally out by the fire. I have no idea what the new supplier can/will do. I did call him tonight and since he was a former customer he knows what Becky's feed was and is going to try to make some very close. I do know that he has been just making feed for his own farm and may not have a lot of selection at this point. He will also do bag return/exchange.
For anynoe who wants contact info PM me and I will give ya Name and number.

Today was not such a good day my truck broke on the way to finish Becky's barn. I wasn't able to cut one grain bin so had to load it whole with a bunch of grain in it and I didn't have a helper. But I got it all done and am finished with the clean up.

As for giving Becky some of the money I didn't do anything special I just "did what I had to do" and what I felt was right no big deal.

You might want to consider covering to keep the rain off also. It is well documented that our Northwest rains leach nutrients from the soil as well as compost. Before I covered my piles to keep the rain off I could see dark brown water (compost tea)running off from underneath the pile right out to the creek bed. Thats wasted nutrients. Also, I heat compost and most of the piles I work on all summer and fall are finished by winter but some that need more time will cease to compost if I don't cover them because they are too wet. But, everyone has a system that works for them and if your compost grows great vegetables then its obviously working. Isn't it great what we do! We have ecofriendly sustainable farms.

Correct. I cover after a morning dose of water to keep it moist, turn every day and have the bad back to prove it...and the Fair's #1 Green beans, and assorted other vegies to prove it

Leaching of teas from the pile is sometimes a necessity as the manure pile is way way way too "HOT" and the nitrates and ammonia levels need to COOK off before the compost is able to support vegeatible life...and yes, it is wonderful what we do, and what we have been doing for 50 years...

Love my garden/chicken/hog/horse/goat/sustainable relationship on the land

e greenest thing you could ever do is to breed respnsibly, and only replace yourself.
Even then we will have ba-zillions of migrants and immigrants taking over vast portions of what we call 'urban sprall'.....and all of them are having 6-10 kids per....if you have an acre of dirt, guard it with your life.

No good. Sorry. I've had my fair share of lemon cars... Money, Money, and more Money in and you're still left with an irreliable car and out the money it would've taken to get a working one! Ugh!

Yeah I'm a bit bumbed out over the entire situation. I swear my truck is just like a boat... A large whole to throw money into... There is a lot more to me being bumbed out than just my truck though... But I'm not gonna drag everyone down with my personal issues.

Hopefully my little girl will iether want her nap early, or she will want to play outside. That way I can keep working on my run for the chickens, and get my mind off of things that I can not control at the moment...

I want to go to one of the fairs! My husband doesn't want me going, he thinks I'm gonna come back with more chickens! lol Even though I've told him "more like propmised him" that I wont be bringing in anymore until "at the earliest" spring.

Hey Chickielady!? How are the sisters doing? And the rest of your flock? Has everyone gotten a clean bill of health, with no re-occurence of the cold? I sure hope so. Its so hard to have one get sick, let alone multiple flock members.

Actually the sisters are fine, bossy and noisy and obviously spoiled, and the flock they are with still have a few snivels and I was gonna ask you if the sisters ever had such a respiratory issue ??
So far, no multiple flocks involved even those seperated by wire, all the other flocks near to and those far away are fine.
The more time goes on, the more I think it is just 3 BBS Maran youngsters that have seemed "fragile" in the first place, the rest of the flock is fine, the rest of every other flock are fine.

I will try to post information on the shows as updated info becomes available. I believe the Stevenson, WA show is Oct 19, but I will have to confirm it later. I am off to Portland and back in one day (8 hours of driving, whoopee!)

My truck is 94' Chevy Silverado. Battery cables have already been checked, brushed clean and reattached. Everything works, lights, anoying buzzers, horn, just no turn over when the key is hit. It doesn't even click when you turn the key... So the starter will be pulled today, and taken in to be tested...

The sisters have never had any health issues. At least not that I know of. I got them from my sister last summer when they were still pullets. So "IF" they had something before I got them, I wouldn't know about it. They have always been happy and healthy for me.

I would feel really horible if I found out that the Sisters were the carriers of the cold thats running through your flock... And I really hope that that is not the case, as Ive not had any issues with the health of my older flock members. I did have some weak chicks that never made it out of quarentine, or the garage for that matter. But they didn't have any respitory issues. And were never in contact directly or in-directly with the main flock. So, I'm just as baffled as you are.
