I've been asked by the club (Pacific Northwest Poultry Association) to make sure everyone knows about the big poultry show coming up in Stevenson, WA October 16. (Technically, it's October 16-17, but you really don't want to come Sunday as everyone pretty much just gets their awards and goes home.) Stevenson is some of the prettiest country ANYWHERE, and well worth the drive. The fairgrounds where the show is held have been called the most beautiful fairgrounds in the nation. This is a marvelous opportunity to see gorgeous top quality poultry as well as to purchase nice birds and chicks, often at very reasonable prices as people are cutting down on their birds for winter. Chicken people are the nicest people anywhere, always willing to help a novice and chat about their birds. There's also a nice potluck that night and the club provides a nice lunch for a donation. It's a terrific day out. The cochin and cornish nationals are being held at Stevenson, as well as some other specialty shows. The website for the club is

There's always a nice raffle and an auction with all sorts of poultry-related stuff.
If you just can't make Stevenson this year, all is not lost. Plan on attending the Washington Feather Fanciers show
http://washingtonfeatherfanciers.webs.com/ held at the fairgrounds in Chehalis, WA. on Sat. Dec 4 this year. Ditto for all the goodies, as well as a nice poultry auction of show-quality pairs of many breeds of birds donated by top breeders to help off-set the costs of the show.
Don't be afraid to introduce yourself, tell people what kind of birds you have, and ask any questions about the show or breeds you see. If you like, bring a few goodies to donate to the raffle. You may want to bring a box just in case you end up purchasing a new addition to your flock. Hope to see you there!
