HA! It has stopped and is melting !

Now I can do the dishes and rest...been outside working all morning cept for the posts here.
I have to come in and warm up often due to the Raynaud's Syndrom...hands dunked in warm water stings soo bad....blue and black spotted feet...

Illia are you going to breed that rooster with the red leakage or sell him to a hobbyist ?
Too bad cuz he is awful pretty otherwise...surely someone that is not into breeding would love to buy him ?

i would be glad to buy that Rooster.... he is pretty. What breed is he again? as i am not interested in show breeding just cool utility cross breeds with cool looks. i would like to get some chicks or him this spring....

even though those chicks threw a huge kink in my springtime ordering i still have a goal of getting marans, araucanas (blue layers) and olive eggers. oh and a partrige coshin hen for mom.

i do have a big wish list. but those are my top 3 priority breeds to get.

Keep warm Chickie.

Well it's fun watching DH run out and keep checking on the cover over the chicken run. He is worrying that that the now inch or so of snow could collapse the the cover. I am sure that with DH's propensity for over engineering anything that he builds, I just can't seem to work up the same level of concern for the poor little dry chickens.

That is one beautiful Roo Illia...and a fantastic photo...that is Christmas card material. Wow.

It is snowing sideways...the wind is just howling, without the wind it is around 23 degrees...not sure with the wind. I have not let the chickies out of their run for 2 days now and they are ticked at me....wish I had chicken crack to give them.

I have clear vizqueen (sp?) plastic around the sides of the run to help with the Northern winds....try to keep them a little warmer and dryer in their run. I should try and take a photo....but I don't think you will be able to see the snow...it is those little whispy flakes and they are flying by at a crazy speed.

Stay warm all.

He's a Blue Wheaten Marans, so the red on his chest isn't as bad as red on a black or blue bird. . . I'm keeping him for now, and breeding him to my lightest chested pullet. If I continue with red leakage in the chest, he'll be replaced. The whole Wheaten flock will be. Otherwise, extra red on a Wheaten is like extra red on a Black Copper - it can be dealt with by getting one with too little of it, and I've got just the pullet.

No, I didn't wait in the snow. I just simply go out there, look for the right moment/angle/balance, take anywhere from a few to a LOT of photos, then choose the best.

I'm honestly curious how my photos show up on other computers though, because they show up really weird on our big screen TV. . .

Happy Birthday! It's snowing here, too...

I feel safe doing the happy dance about snow, as snow never sticks around long here. So far its light fluffy and dry, kinda just blowing around on the ground. But its snowing, it made me smile, and I'm actually feeling kinda happy today.

Snow tends to stick around out where your at doesn't it?

And thank you! Even my DH hasn't said happy birthday to me yet. lol

Edited because I can't type. lol

Yes, usually until April or May...one year--mid-JUNE!!!

Scott actually has feed for most farm critters. It is locally produced and they grow most of it themselves. AND THEN THERE IS THE PRICE !!! My chickens love the feed, less waste and better production. I think if you could get in on the shipments coming that way you would like it.
I am REALLY starting to wonder if I made a big mistake letting my little secret out. lol

Hi all! How's it going?
I haven't been on in a long time, but I am here again, and would love to get on the list for feed. Can I get layer crumbles? Or is it just pellets?

Visit http://www.patriotfarmandbison.com/
Pick
out what you'd like and pm me.
There is a delivery fee that is added to each bag/bale
We just got the delivery and I have a good stock for me if you'd like to check it out and see what it is like.
Depending on how big the order gets next delivery should be in 2 months (beginning of January) But if I get a lot of orders I'll talk with Scott and see if we need to work on a monthly schedule.

The layer feed is great and is more a crumble/powder.

Just let me know.

And is this the stuff milled by Scott? And how do I get some?

I am sure my girls would love anything you all call chicken crack! Stay warm everyone! My hubby went out and covered all the faucets, and I got the heated waterer out, along with covering a little bit of the ventilation in the upper parts of my coop so the heat doesn't escape so fast. Does anyone know how long this cold spell is supposed to last?
