OK new photos of MOT and his girls as promised, at 6 mo old, very tall, still peeping, like baby chicks!
They also will not roost yet, but stay on the coop floor like baby chicks !
His rose comb is just budding:

this last pic is a pullet so you can see the difference.
Mot is tall for his age !
Very tall and heavy, meaty.
They have very green eyes, and the imposing hawk-like stare.
He has been defensive since he hatched, we KNEW he was a roo, at 2 inches tall he would run out and attack the hand inserted in the brooder...the pullets would hide.
I am wary that he will be a meanie, hope not, he is necessary for a while until I have some sons from him and can pick and choose.
A full rose comb is a weird thing to behold, what with all the little points...makes you look twice.
I really love these birds already, peeping babies at their size...they are very white, almost a blueish white, have a faint red stripe down the side of the leg (like a RIR but fainter)...and hawk-like green eyes.
The only other chicken I have seen with this greener-than green eyes is Golden Cuckoo Roo...

That is weird. Paypal might have your ebay alias since they are connected to them but why would they know the BYC one? When I've purchased eggs on BYC it goes straight to the seller from my paypal. I've never had to give them my BYC info.

Cuz it goes from BYC to Paypal, then from paypal to the seller...and the imfo is all on the paperwork.
But in this case I ordered it from Surehatch's website, and they went through paypal, and got my BYC alias, THAT is the odd part...why paypal gave them my BYC name when I did not go through BYC to order.

It is like ..does paypal tell everyone my BYC alias ?
I use paypal for other things besides chicken stuff...I am not sure I like PP giving that info out to anyone, including Surehatch.

Nah I think I'm just gonna wait until Pips&peep's next batch of pullets come around.

Will do. thanks!

Well, the main reason I changed my mind anyway is that we apparently are not headed to the Olympia area. . . Slight change of plans.

Now what is wrong with this picture ???? Ya don't like birds??? But ya raise (I think) and show CHICKENS !!!!! Are they not BIRDS ????

I would have to agree wiff ya on the ferrets I have a scar on my beak to show how fast they are and that they can/ will bite.

Nope, chickens aren't birds...they are freaks of nature...didn't you know that?? LOL I totally get the whole "bird" thing...I work at the emergency clinic down here in Tualatin, and I still have issues with lots of different birds (parroty-type things that could rip my face off) but I'm getting better...only because I've made myself handle them. African Greys still freak me out though...birds shouldn't be smarter than us!

Funny thing is, I'll handle a Great Horned Owl, or Bald Eagle with no qualms at all...talk about a bird that could rip my face off!

Horned owls? Eagles?

I have to laugh, because we had someone walk in last week--no appt, no phone call to see if we would do what she wanted... she had a ---- POSSOM!! I didn't even want to touch it. She yawned and her mouth opened up and her HEAD DISAPPEARED. Pac-possom. All I saw was teeth.. ala ferret. Actually ended up being a very sweet .. creature, and very very soft at which I was surprised. I hadn't really realized Possoms came as living things...

LOL - luckily, our clinic has a no opposum, racoon, or otherwise icky creature of the night policy! The first Great Horned Owl I ever saw was in the middle of the night, this guy comes up and rings the doorbell, and when I went up all I could see were these two huge yellow eyes staring at me through the door!
th.gif
The idiot hit it with his car and stunned it enough that he was able to go pick it up, and he DROVE to us with the thing perched on his hand, with only an old t shirt covering his hand!! By the time I got a hold of it, it was PO'd!!! LOL
Had a really cool experience with a bald eagle earlier this year that had been injured in a territorial fight (good sam saw the whole thing) and the police brought him in - he was none too pleased either. We were able to get a hold of the director of the Audobon Society's wildlife rehab center, she came in and did her initial assesment/treatment in our clinic, so I was able to assist her and restrain him - SO COOL!!

And yes, the veterinarian sitting down in the 2nd pic is restraining the eagles head under the towel! LOL I had my hands full with his talons!

Rainwolf::: I have a doz Blue Copper eggs for you...and I am pretty sure I am going to sell the flock.
I really want to concentrate on the Javas and RIW and have time for the Cochin.
These birds are just laying 3 weeks now, are fertile still and have hatched quite a few chicks already.
The alpha roo is a blue copper, beta a splash, 4 splash hens a black and a blue hen.
They have had their Marek's vaccines and had 1 hen necropsy (from a cold and collibaciliosis) and had no MG.
I am open to offers.
These are madelynbelle BBS Marans hacthed this last spring.
I believe they are a Bev Davis line but I will e-mail her for all the details.

these photos are from a few months ago...

OK, now I also have a pair of mature Guineas that love each other, a pied and a pearl...and 2 young guineas.
One looks like it is feathering out lavender/pearl and the other is pearl.
They hate DH ! They do not attack anyone, but when they see him they start in with their honking and chit chitting and drives him nuts !
lol.png

50801_guineas_005.jpg

They are housed down by DH's fort and he hates them.
So in all fairness I have to let them go.
The older couple is from eggs from Bargain...(Nancy Garry) and the 2 young birds are some from Tailfeatherz.
All very healthy.
So, the BBS Marans and the Guineas.
And now I am off to clean a bit and take a nap before the next storm comes in !
